Williams anunció que Franco Colapinto, piloto de F2 y miembro de su academia, reemplazará a Logan Sargeant a partir del Gran Premio de Italia. Colapinto debutará en F1, siendo el primer piloto argentino en hacerlo en 23 años. Semáforo en verde y bandera roja
Antonelli fue de los primeros en salir a pista, Hamilton se puso primero con los neumáticos blandos. Hasta que la bandera roja ondeaba en Monza ya que el italianoí el coche en la última curva y entró en fuerte contacto con las barreras.

Con 37 minutos por delante los coches ya salían a pista para seguir con la sesión. Verstappen fue el primero en salir. Con Antonelli fuera de la ecuación Colapinto se llevaba todo el protagonismo. Ocupaba el noveno lugar y se encontraba a unas seis décimas de su compañero de equipo, Albon.
Baile de neumáticos
Con media hora para acabar la sesión había pilotos que estaban haciendo tandas con el neumático medio y otros haciendo tandas de clasificación entre ellos Colapinto que se saltaba la chicane y Bottas que se ponía primero. Leclerc el cual intentaba mejorar el tiempo del piloto de Sauber.

Leclerc se pone primero
Finalmente y después de varios intentos el piloto monegasco consiguió ponerse primero seguido de Lando Norris, el cual estaba haciendo una tanda larga. A diez minutos para el final todos empezaron a hacer vueltas de clasificación, Verstappen se puso primero destronando a Leclerc.
La sesión acababa con el líder del mundial encabezando la tanda de tiempos, seguido de Leclerc, Norris y Sainz. Veremos si esta tarde George Russell se puede subir al coche tras el accidente de Antonelli.
