Historia de Inglaterra en la Eurocopa

 

Inglaterra ha participado en 12 ediciones de la Eurocopa desde 1960, pero no ha logrado levantar el trofeo en ninguna de ellas.

Su mejor resultado fue el subcampeonato en 1980 y 2020, cuando perdió en la final contra Italia en ambas ocasiones:

1980: 1-1 Italia ganó a penaltis (3-2)

Fase de grupos

 

Los Three Lions quedan encuadrados en el Grupo C, donde comparten grupo con Serbia, Dinamarca y Eslovenia. Inglaterra parte como favorita para quedar primera de grupo, pero no lo tendrá fácil ya que Dinamarca es un hueso duro de roer, habiendo tenido un buen desempeño en los últimos torneos internacionales.

Inglaterra tuvo una destacada participación en la Eurocopa 2020, alcanzando la final del torneo y igualando así su mejor registro histórico. En esa final, que se celebró en el estadio de Wembley, se enfrentaron a Italia. El partido terminó en empate y se decidió en la tanda de penaltis, donde Inglaterra perdió por 3-2. Los ingleses Bukayo Saka, Jadon Sancho y Marcus Rashford fallaron sus penaltis, lo que fue un golpe duro para una nueva generación de futbolistas ingleses que han estado haciendo un gran papel bajo la dirección de Gareth Southgate.

CON QUE FORMACION JUEGAN LOS THREE LIONS

 

Gareth Southgate es el entrenador de Inglaterra. En los dos últimos partidos amistosos ha probado jugar con un      4-2-3-1, con Trent Alexander-Arnold como principal novedad en el centro del campo.

Le acompaña Declan Rice, que es, si no el mejor, uno de los mejores pivotes de la Premier League. Jude Bellingham  estara en la media punta y Harry Kane será el killer
