El Sevilla ya tiene su segundo fichaje para la próxima temporada.
El club hispalense ha hecho oficial hoy el fichaje de Gerard Fernández, quien llega procedente del Racing de Santander por 4 millones de euros. Además, el jugador firmará hasta 2028 con el equipo de Nervión.
El delantero llegó en la tarde de ayer a la ciudad hispalense para convertirse en el segundo fichaje del Sevilla de cara a la temporada 2024/2025, a expensas de pasar los pertinentes reconocimientos médicos. Por otro lado, cabe recordar que el primero en recalar en Nervión fue el extremo nigeriano Chidera Ejuke.
El jugador catalán ha estado entrenando todo este tiempo en solitario, tras someterse a una operación al finalizar la temporada. El Sevilla afrontará el pago de la cláusula de rescisión del jugador, que es de 4 millones de euros (hubiera sido el doble de haber ascendido el Racing a Primera), tras llegar a un acuerdo sobre la forma de hacerlo. Es decir, el club hispalense pagará la cláusula de forma fraccionada.
Trayectoria de Peque
Gerard es un jugador que ha sido formado en las categorías inferiores del FC Barcelona, allí coincidió con el actual entrenador del Sevilla, Garcia Pimienta.
Tras su buen desempeño en el Barça Athletic en la temporada 2021/2022, en la que anotó 3 goles en 21 partidos, dio el salto al Racing de Santander de la Segunda División. Cuando aún jugaba en los juveniles del Barcelona, salió cedido al UE Cornellá, donde tuvo poco protagonismo.
La primera temporada de Peque en el Racing fue más discreta en comparación con la de la temporada pasada, ya que en esta ha sido uno de los delanteros más destacados de la Segunda División tras marcar 19 goles y 3 asistencias en los 41 partidos y 2.895 minutos que disputó.

Gerard Fernández, ‘Peque’, ya es nuevo jugador sevillista, el segundo fichaje para la temporada 24/25 después de Ejuke. El jugador catalán, por el que se llegaba a un principio de acuerdo con el Racing de Santander para su traspaso, ha superado con éxito las pruebas médicas realizadas ya en la capital hispalense, por lo que a todos los efectos se convierte en futbolista blanquirrojo para las próximas cuatro campañas.
El jugador podrá, por tanto, trabajar ya en la sesión matinal del viernes junto al resto de sus compañeros y a las órdenes del técnico García Pimienta, quien lo conoce de su etapa en el filial del FC Barcelona.
