De esta manera, la compra por el grupo de inversión saudí en 2021 fue la detonante del auge en el rendimiento deportivo.
Con la nueva propiedad, aterrizaron tanto jugadores consolidados como apuestas de futuro, algunas de ellas cuestionadas en un primer momento por el elevado desembolso económico que supusieron: Isak, Tonali, Gordon, Guimarães, Livramento…Pero como en todo equipo de perfil medio, se exponen a salidas casi forzosas que están fuera de su control ante la imposibilidad de mantener a sus estrellas.
Esta nueva realidad ha condicionado cada paso del Newcastle en el mercado de fichajes. Tras un pasado verano sentenciado por jugadores que rechazaron vestir la elástica blanquinegra, en gran medida por la ausencia de Director Deportivo, estos meses enfrentan un gigante ya mencionado.
El «Boom»: Isak
Una vez rota la sequía de los 70 años sin títulos al levantar la Carabao Cup, el sueco decidió dejar el conjunto Magpie dejando en las arcas 145 millones de euros. Aunque su salida no fue pacífica se ganó el derecho a decidir su futuro, pues sus registros eran muy positivos: 62 goles en 109 partidos.
Esta venta se convirtió en el punto de inflexión de una plantilla que aspiraba a seguir escalando posiciones. A este movimiento le siguieron bajas de relevancia como Almirón o Callum Wilson, jugadores de alta calidad y buen desempeño pero que con el paso de los años iban perdiendo su esencia.
Encontrar un sustituto para el ’14’ no era tarea fácil. Un vez consultadas múltiples opciones, finalmente se cerró la incorporación de Woltemade como el jugador idóneo.
Misma dinámica de élite
Este «golpe» tuvo sus efectos solo una temporada después. El bajo rendimiento colectivo demostrado en la campaña 2025/2026 llevó a la salida de otro referente en el ataque, Anthony Gordon. La llamada de Flick bastó para que su decisión sea irrefutable, cumpliendo al igual que Isak, el sueño de vestir la camiseta de sus sueños.
De la misma manera, los de Eddie Howe se reforzaron con la llegada de Bazoumana Touré. La joven promesa costamarfileña dejó buenas sensaciones en el presente Mundial y en el Hoffenheim.
Casi un mes después se sumó Sandro Tonali, uno de los líderes de la medular. Igualmente, el elemento De Zerbi fue fundamental para el movimiento. Una vez más, la pérdida en la plantilla Black and Withe era devastadora y significativa.
La operación se concretó por poco más de 100 millones de euros con variables incluidos.
El ’39’ en el aire
Los últimos informes del medio The Telegraph apuntan que los de St James’ Park tasan en más de 60 millones de euros a su capitán, precio superior al ofrecido por los Gunners. Aunque la postura del brasileño es cambiar de aires, «no va a crear problemas, dejando la decisión en manos del club» como apunta el periodista de renombre Fabrizio Romano. Con contrato hasta 2028 y el interés de grandes clubes, todas las partes están destinadas a entenderse por uno de los mejores centrocampistas del mundo.
A este dilema le acompaña el fichaje fallido de Manzambi. Hace escasas horas Daily Mail aseguraba que la irrupción del Aston Villa podía ser el destino final del centrocampista revelación del Mundial.
