El base francés, Mehdy Ngouama, refuerza al Coviran Granada tras la marcha de Matt Thomas y supone la penúltima ficha de la temporada
La marcha de Matt Thomas ha supuesto el enésimo revés de la temporada para el Coviran Granada, que se ha movido rápido y ha firmado el que ya es su sustituto, Mehdy Ngouama. El base de 1,88 de altura puede jugar también de dos, puesto que ocupaba el escolta norteamericano, y llega con experiencia previa en ACB a sus 30 años.
Mehdy Ngouama (Le Blanc-Mesnil, 6 de julio de 1995) comenzó su carrera en la cantera del SLUC Nancy antes de comenzar su carrera universitaria en EEUU, donde jugó en el Chipola College y en los Alabama State Hornets de la NCAA. En junio de 2017, regresó a su Francia natal para jugar en el Denain ASC Voltaire de la LNB Pro B (Segunda División) para el año siguiente continuar en la categoría de la mano del JA Vichy.
Pasaría también por el BC Souffelweyersheim antes de dar el salto a la primera categoría francesa y a poder jugar Euroliga con el Nanterre 92. En mayo de 2020, firmó por dos temporadas por el ESSM Le Portel y, tras cumplir su contrato, se marchó al BCM Gravelines.
Experiencia en España
En febrero de 2023, Carplus Fuenlabrada apostó por él como un refuerzo para el puesto de uno, y rindió a un gran nivel, aunque no pudo ayudar al conjunto madrileño a salvar la categoría que sí mantuvo curiosamente el Coviran Granada esa temporada. A final de esa campaña, se incorporó al Paris Basketball con el que logró la Eurocup y la siguiente temporada entre el JL Bourg Basket y el Le Mans Sarthe Basket firmó un gran año a pesar de contar con sendos contratos temporales, lo que valió regresar a la ACB de la mano del Dreamland Gran Canaria.
En Canarias, no consiguió asentarse en la rotación del equipo, y regresó a Francia para completar la temporada con el ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne.
Ahora, llega a Granada hasta final de temporada con el objetivo de reivindicarse en lo personal en la Liga Endesa y ayudar al Coviran Granada a intentar retener, de forma milagrosa, la categoría un año más bajo la dirección de Arturo Ruiz.
