El Coviran Granada cierra su segundo fichaje del día con la incorporación del pívot Amida Brimah y refuerza el puesto de cinco contra todo pronóstico

Día muy intenso en el Coviran Granada, tras confirmar al mediodía el fichaje de William Howard, hace unos minutos ha confirmado también el de Amida Brimah, procedente de Movistar Estudiantes de Primera FEB.

Amida Brimah (Acra, 11 de febrero de 1994) comenzó su carrera en los Huskies de la Universidad de Connecticut, donde promedió 6,7 puntos, 4,5 rebotes y 2,8 tapones por partido, siendo esta última marca la media más alta de la historia de la American Athletic Conference desde que se contabilizan en la temporada 85-86. Logró en su primer año la NCAA y se presentó al Draft de 2017 de la NBA, donde al no ser elegido fue invitado por los Chicago Bulls a jugar las Ligas de Verano de la competición.

Pasó la temporada 2017-2018 por los San Antonio Spurs y por su filial, el Austin Spurs en la G-League, además de un breve paso por Partizan, su primera experiencia en Europa, para volver al Austin Spurs la siguiente temporada.

La etapa en EEUU estaba lejos de finalizar para el cinco ghanés, en 2021 firmó un contrato dual con los Indiana Pacers que le permitía jugar con la franquicia y su filial en G-League, los Fort Wayne Mad Ants. La siguiente temporada, la 2021-2022, fue su la que cambió su carrera, tras abandonar por primera vez las ligas americanas y empezar en Europa.

Bélgica (BC Oostende) y Francia (JL Bourg Basket) serían sus siguientes destinos, hasta que en 2023 decidió regresar a la NBA G-League para enrolarse en las filas del Grand Rapids Gold y, posteriormente, en la de los Santa Cruz Warriors, para finalizar la 23-24 jugando en verano la Liga de Puerto Rico con los Mets de Guaynabo en los que destacó con 12,5 puntos y 7,5 rebotes por encuentro.

Experiencia en ACB y Primera FEB

Llegó a España en septiembre del año pasado reforzando temporalmente al BAXI Mnaresa tras la lesión de Bodian Massa y jugó la segunda parte de la temporada con el Valencia Basket, firmando unos promedios en Liga Endesa de 3,9 puntos, 2,6 rebotes, 0,3 asistencias y 1,2 tapones. Esta temporada estaba jugando con Movistar Estudiantes en Primera FEB, pero su bajo rendimiento le ha conllevado ciertas críticas. Ahora, llega a Granada para aportar físico, intensidad y defensa al Coviran de Ramón Díaz, que necesita reforzarse tras los recientes acontecimientos.
