El debate en redes y en la prensa ha llegado con la noticia que confirmaba que el Madrid ha pagado 10 millones de euros extra por hacerse con sus servicios ya, en vez de esperar al 1 de julio.
Trent Alexander-Arnold ha sido oficialmente confirmado como nuevo jugador del Real Madrid hace unas escasas horas. El jugador inglés llegará en junio para que Xabi Alonso pueda contar con él de cara al Mundial de Clubes. ¿Realmente vale la pena o ha sido un movimiento erróneo del Madrid comido por las prisas y la crítica situación de la plantilla?
Bien es sabido ya que el Madrid necesitaba muchos refuerzos para la próxima temporada tras un año para olvidar en Chamartín, donde los problemas de lesiones y la mala planificación de plantilla han terminado perjudicando mucho al equipo. Desde inicios del mercado el Madrid se ha puesto manos a la obra para intentar mejorar el equipo en aquellas posiciones más débiles. Primero fue Huijsen, hoy ha sido Arnold y se prevé que en los próximos días se sigan sucediendo los fichajes. Aunque es momento de analizar el de Arnold y la gran polémica que se ha generado en torno a esos 10 millones que ha pagado el equipo blanco por hacerse con el jugador, tan solo un mes antes.
¿Por qué el Madrid ha realizado este movimiento?
Primero de todo, hay que analizar el por qué de este pago. ¿Cuales son los motivos que han llevado al club blanco a pagar esta gran cantidad por el jugador?
El nuevo Mundial de Clubes que se celebrará en un par de semanas en EEUU ha abierto una nueva vía de mercado. Los equipos disponen de una nueva ventana de fichajes del 1 al 10 de junio, donde se pueden reforzar de cara a este torneo. De ahí, la urgencia blanca. Se ha abierto una gran posibilidad de traer los jugadores un tiempo antes para que puedan disputar el Mundial.
Con Huijsen ha sido sencillo. Se ingresó el dinero de su cláusula y ya el Madrid podrá disponer de sus servicios el 1 de junio. El problema ha llegado con Arnold, el Liverpool y su situación de contrato, y fichaje. El nuevo jugador del Madrid iba a llegar a la capital española en forma de agente libre, tras no renovar con el Liverpool. Por lo tanto, llegaría gratis tras finalizar su último mes de contrato en junio, como suele ser habitual en estos casos. Esto suponía que el inglés siguiera vinculado al Liverpool hasta el 1 de julio, donde ya podría vestir la camiseta del Madrid. Pero como ya se ha mencionado antes, desde la dirección deportiva, el presidente y el nuevo entrenador, Xabi Alonso, la intención era contar con los nuevos fichajes desde inicios de junio para poder trabajar ya con ellos y que puedan disputar el Mundial de Clubes. Ante este panorama la situación era crítica ya que el jugador seguía perteneciendo al club red y no se lo iban a regalar al Madrid
Por lo tanto, el conjunto merengue tenía dos posibilidades muy claras. Esperar hasta que Trent acabase su contrato con el Liverpool y que ya se incorporara a la dinámica del equipo, o pagar una cantidad de dinero extra, como si fuera un fichaje, para que su equipo de origen lo liberase antes de tiempo. Con la notica de hoy ya sabemos cual ha sido la decisión tomada por el club, pero las cantidades que se barajan desde los medios son excesivamente altas y de ahí que haya llegado el debate a las redes, la prensa y el entorno Real Madrid
¿Que diferencias había entre las dos posibilidades?
La opción elegida por el Madrid permite a Alexander-Arnold, incorporarse desde ya al equipo y poder participar desde el día uno en el Mundial de Clubes con la camiseta blanca. Mientras que la opción descartada dejaba a Arnold sin pisar la Castellana hasta el 1 de julio y por lo tanto, se hubiera perdido una fase del Mundial de Clubes. En concreto, se hubiera perdido la fase de grupos, con los partidos ante el Pachuca, Al-Hilal y Salzburgo. Siendo el último ante el conjunto austriaco el 27 de junio. Destaco esta fecha porque es muy importante poner en contexto que la fase de grupos, muy accesible para el Madrid, finaliza ese día y que por lo tanto, la fase de eliminatoria comenzaría ya en julio para el equipo. Abriendo la posibilidad de que Arnold se pudiera incorporar para el momento clave del torneo
Con respecto a este tema he visto a mucha gente confusa y con una idea muy errónea. Dejando muy claro el argumento de que si no se fichaba a Trent en junio, ya no podía jugar el Mundial de Clubes. Pero eso no es así y os voy a explicar por qué.
En las diferentes competiciones oficiales como la Champions, la Europa League o la Conference, el reglamento permite a los equipos realizar una lista de inscritos para la primera fase del torneo (fase de grupos o de liga actualmente). Una lista, que en ese momento determinado se respeta, pero que tiene «cierta fecha de caducidad». Cuando se termina esta primera fase, los equipos que están vivos en la competición pasan a jugar la segunda y última fase, las eliminatorias. Ante eso, el reglamento deja muy claro que los equipos tienen la posibilidad de inscribir hasta tres jugadores más.
Un ejemplo práctico ha sido el Chelsea este año, que ante la situación de estar en Conference y darle prioridad a la Premier League durante la fase regular, se dejó fuera de la primera lista a jugadores clave como Palmer, Fofana o Lavia. Pero con la llegada de la fase eliminatoria, donde todo se pone más serio y el margen de error es más pequeño, el Chelsea usó esa posibilidad de inscripción para traer a Palmer a la competición, entre otros.
El Mundial de Clubes no ha quedado exento de esta normativa y también aplica el mismo reglamento que las anteriores competiciones mencionadas (con algunos matices, pero en general es lo mismo). Como bien aclara la FIFA. Se lanzará un primer periodo de inscripción de jugadores para la fase grupos. Posteriormente, en la fase eliminatoria, los clubes tendrán la opción de incorporar hasta dos jugadores nuevos a su lista definitiva. Esto comprendido en un periodo entre el 27 de junio y 3 de julio. En este punto es donde tiene origen la polémica y el gran debate de la decisión realizada por el Real Madrid, ya que como bien se refleja en el reglamento Arnold sí podría haber sido inscrito para la fase final del Mundial. Una fase en la que el Madrid tiene muchas posibilidades de estar por el grupo que tiene.
Realmente se perdería los partidos frente al Pachuca, el Al–Hilal y el Salzburgo, pero estaría disponible para unos teóricos octavos de final. Esto se traduce en que el Madrid ha pagado realmente 3,3 millones de euros por cada partido de la fase grupos en el que Arnold participe. Ya que del resto del torneo hubiera disfrutado de una manera u otra.
El centro de la gran polémica
Se que el Madrid necesitaba con urgencia reforzar ese carril derecho, pero el nivel de los rivales en esta primera fase deja en vilo la decisión tomada por el Madrid. ¿Era realmente necesario ejecutar esa operación ya?, o ¿con Lucas, la opción Valverde de lateral y una cantera muy nutrida en esa posición hubiera dado de sobra?
La realidad nunca la sabremos, pero las sensaciones, la lógica y las estadísticas dicen que no, no era necesario gastarse ese dineral por Trent ahora. Los antecedentes también hablan por sí solos…
El Madrid se ha enfrentado ya esta temporada a dos de los tres rivales de su grupo, Salzburgo y Pachuca. El primero en Champions y el segundo en la final de la Intercontinental. En ambos partidos el ganador fue el Real Madrid y además de una manera muy holgada. Al Salzburgo le machacó por un 5-1 en el Bernabéu, con una estelar actuación de los tres atacantes bandera del Madrid (Mbappé, Vinicius y Rodrygo). Mientras que al Pachuca también le ganó sobradamente con un 3-0, donde volvieron a participar en los goles los tres jugadores estrella del Madrid. Por lo tanto, aquí tenemos el mejor indicativo de lo que puede suponer la dificultad del grupo del Madrid.
Además, atendiendo más a criterios objetivos el conjunto de Xabi Alonso no se enfrentará ante ningún campeón de liga. Al Pachuca le ha ido muy mal esta temporada en la Liga BBVA MX, donde ha acabado hundido en los puestos de abajo de la tabla. A su vez, el Salzburgo quedó segundo en su liga, por detrás del Sturm Graz. Y por último, el Al-Hilal, que parece a priori el rival más potente, también ha quedado segundo en su liga. Por detrás del Al-Ittihad, de Benzema, Kanté y compañía.
Con todos estos datos, espero haber incidido lo suficiente en esa idea que ha sido el principal motivo de este artículo que estoy escribiendo. El Madrid no necesitaba pagar esos 10 millones de euros por Alexander Arnold para el Mundial de Clubes. Los argumentos son válidos, obviamente, aunque el club como institución no se ha pronunciado ante todo el ruido. Pero resulta obvio que lo han hecho por esto y a mi opinión, ha sido un nuevo desliz más de una dirección deportiva que últimamente nos está dejando muy fríos a algunos aficionados. Donde no se quería gastar dinero de más en un central, con unas necesidades altísimas en invierno, ahora si se considera factible pagar 10 millones más por un jugador que llegaba al equipo un mes después en el momento clave del torneo.
Y sí, se que mucha gente opina que es para integrarlo en el grupo y que vaya aprendiendo en es este nuevo Real Madrid de Xabi. Pero la realidad es que Arnold no se va a incorporar al equipo hasta el 12-13 de junio ya que hay un parón de selecciones y por lo tanto va a llegar con lo justo al Mundial. Si es verdad que entrenará más con el grupo que con la otra opción, pero planteo una pregunta. ¿Valen 3 partidos ante rivales débiles y 7-8 entrenamientos con el grupo 10 millones de euros?
Mi respuesta es muy clara, no. Está cantado que si el Madrid gana el Mundial nadie se acordará de esto. Pero como la apuesta salga mal vamos a empezar a escuchar las primeras voces críticas que pongan en duda el proyecto.
