Norris: «No quería ganar por un segundo, quería apretar»

Lando Norris logró una victoria dominante sobre Max Verstappen, aunque no exenta de esfuerzo, en el Gran Premio de Singapur

El piloto británico lideró la carrera de principio a fin, llegando a tomar una ventaja de hasta 30 segundos sobre Max Verstappen. A pesar de ello, Norris asumió riesgos considerables, llegando a rozar el muro en varias ocasiones.

Sin embargo, tenía claro su enfoque: «Quería presionar».

Apretando hasta la última curva

El rendimiento del MCL38 dejó claro que McLaren es el equipo más rápido en este momento. Aunque la tercera posición de Oscar Piastri, en comparación con el segundo puesto de Verstappen, puede parecer insuficiente dadas las circunstancias, sigue siendo una prueba del gran momento que atraviesa el equipo.

Durante la carrera, lo que más llamó la atención fue el nivel de riesgo que asumió Lando, quien no aflojó ni un momento a pesar de tener una ventaja considerable sobre Verstappen. No dejó de acelerar y no tenía intención de relajarse, manteniendo la distancia como medida de seguridad. En la rueda de prensa posterior, Norris explicó:

«No se trata necesariamente de estar presionando demasiado, a veces es que te relajas demasiado. Quizá ha sido una combinación de ambas cosas. Es complicado. Era fácil bloquear los neumáticos, como me pasó en una ocasión».

Aun así, ese enfoque agresivo lo llevó a rozar el muro en varias curvas, a pesar de las advertencias del equipo, que le pedía moderar el ritmo para asegurar la victoria sin asumir riesgos innecesarios.

«Ha sido una carrera increíble. Rozar el muro tantas veces fue algo peligroso, pero aparte de eso, controlamos bien la situación. El coche fue increíble y me permitió empujar con fuerza. Volamos durante toda la carrera, y al final pude relajarme un poco».

«Ha sido duro, todavía me falta el aliento, pero en general, estoy satisfecho».

«Es parecido a lo que viví en Qatar. No me relajé tanto como podría haberlo hecho. Ahora mismo estoy algo mareado, pero en general, estoy bien».
