Lorenzo Casini, el presidente de la Serie A, ha revelado que el campeonato italiano puede cambiar de formato. Las alteraciones, según afirmó en entrevista al Rai Radio 1, serían una solicitud de los equipos más importantes, que también están involucrados en las principales competiciones europeas. El número de participantes, sin embargo, debe mantenerse en veinte.
«Definitivamente hay una necesidad de reformas. A los equipos grandes, que juegan mucho, les gustaría reducir el número de partidos y ver la reducción de equipos como un requisito previo. Como Serie A, queremos mantenernos en 20 equipos, si acaso debiéramos pensar en diferentes formatos. Hay lugares, como Palermo y Bari, por ejemplo, que sería bueno poder involucrar, dado que el Sur está subrepresentado en este momento», recordó.
Casini también habló sobre los problemas estructurales de los equipos italianos y apuntó para un culpable: la burocracia.
«Las infraestructuras son el drama del fútbol italiano. Como Liga, hemos pedido que el municipio y la administración municipal ya no representen el nivel de gobierno para resolver este problema. Para nosotros, son obras estratégicas de interés nacional que deberían tener un proceso burocrático acelerado. No es un problema de recursos porque los clubes los tienen. El ejemplo es el de la Fiorentina, que ha creado un centro deportivo de clase mundial como Viola Park. Y lo hizo en 30 meses, confirmando que se pueden crear infraestructuras privadas. ¿La solución? Necesitamos tener modelos más simples y como Liga hemos activado un laboratorio de infraestructuras donde estamos al servicio de los equipos facilitando las relaciones entre clubes e instituciones», concluyó el presidente.
