Oscar Piastri ha conquistado su segunda victoria de la temporada en Baréin, una carrera marcada por la degradación, la estrategia y los incidentes
El piloto australiano lideró de principio a fin, aguantando la presión de George Russell y Charles Leclerc para cruzar la meta en primera posición. Lando Norris completó el podio en una jornada amarga para los pilotos españoles: Carlos Sainz abandonó tras un toque con Yuki Tsunoda, y Fernando Alonso solo pudo ser 16º con un Aston Martin muy alejado de la zona de puntos.

Un Piastri incontestable
Piastri aprovechó al máximo su ritmo con neumáticos blandos y, pese a reportar cierta degradación en las primeras vueltas, controló la carrera con autoridad. Con esta victoria, el de McLaren se sitúa a solo tres puntos de su compañero Norris en la general (77 por 74), consolidando la candidatura del equipo de Woking al campeonato.
Russell, segundo en meta, se mantuvo en todo momento a la estela del australiano, aunque su resultado final está bajo revisión: los comisarios investigan si el británico abrió el DRS de forma indebida durante la carrera. Una posible sanción podría alterar el podio. Norris, por su parte, remontó desde la sexta posición de salida, cumplió una sanción de cinco segundos por mal posicionamiento en la parrilla, y terminó tercero tras adelantar a Leclerc en la parte final de la carrera.
En clave española, Carlos Sainz protagonizó una buena salida y llegó a rodar sexto, pero un toque con Tsunoda en la vuelta 31 dañó gravemente su monoplaza. El incidente no fue sancionado, pero el madrileño no pudo completar la carrera, además de recibir una penalización de 10 segundos por una maniobra posterior con Antonelli. Fernando Alonso, lastrado por una estrategia inversa con neumáticos medios al inicio, se vio superado desde los primeros compases y cruzó la meta en 16ª posición, en una carrera gris para Aston Martin.
Neumáticos e incidentes, los protagonistas
La gestión de neumáticos fue clave desde la salida. La mayoría optó por empezar con blandos, pero Ferrari y Alonso apostaron por medios, algo que perjudicó claramente su ritmo en las primeras vueltas. Norris brilló en la arrancada, pasando del sexto al tercer puesto, y Sainz también ganó terreno, aunque acabaría diluyéndose por el desgaste de sus neumáticos blandos.
McLaren sufrió un susto inicial cuando Dirección de Carrera sancionó a Norris por estar mal colocado en la parrilla, tras una queja por radio de Verstappen. El británico cumplió la penalización en su primera parada, y a partir de ahí protagonizó una sólida remontada. Verstappen, por su parte, vivió una carrera para olvidar: apostó por una estrategia alternativa con neumáticos duros, pero no funcionó. Perdió ritmo, fue adelantado por Antonelli, Hamilton y Leclerc, y una mala segunda parada lo relegó al fondo del pelotón.
Safety Car
El coche de seguridad, provocado por los restos del coche de Sainz, agrupó de nuevo al pelotón en la vuelta 32. La resalida fue frenética, con Russell lanzado con blandos y Norris y Leclerc luchando cuerpo a cuerpo. Norris acabó superando al monegasco en la vuelta 52 y se lanzó a por Russell, aunque se quedó sin tiempo para intentar el adelantamiento final.
En los últimos giros, la atención se centró en el estado de los neumáticos de Russell y en dos aspectos que podrían influir en los resultados: Norris fue advertido con bandera blanca y negra por exceder los límites de pista, y Russell abrió el DRS sin coche delante, algo que podría acarrearle una penalización tras la carrera.
Baréin ha dejado un nuevo líder moral en la figura de Oscar Piastri, que firma una actuación impecable y lanza un claro mensaje a sus rivales. La lucha por el título se aprieta… y esto no ha hecho más que empezar.
