El australiano que seguía como reserva en el equipo, termina finalmente su relación con la escudería francesa.
Alpine ha anunciado que Jack Doohan ya no forma parte del equipo. El australiano, que perdió su asiento en el Gran Premio de Imola, se había quedado en la escudería francesa con un rol de piloto reserva a expensas de una nueva oportunidad. Sin embargo, tras un año de espera y con la renovación de Colapinto, las opciones de volver a ser titular eran escasas, lo que ha acabado con la ruptura del vínculo entre ambos.
Jack Doohan debutó en la última carrera de 2024, tras la repentina salida de Ocon hacia Haas. Desde ahí, el australiano ha tenido siete oportunidades para mostrar su valía. Poco tiempo quizás, pero Flavio Briatore ya tenía su apuesta decidida. Tras varios choques y pocos destellos tuvo que ceder su asiento a Franco Colapinto.
No obstante, Doohan no salió del equipo de forma inmediata, sino que aceptó el puesto de reserva y luchó por una nueva oportunidad, que no ha llegado. Tras la renovación de los dos pilotos, Jack ha buscado otras opciones.
Jack Doohan, rumo a la Super Fórmula Japonesa
El próximo destino de Doohan no es otro que Japón. El australiano completó una jornada de test con el equipo Kondo Racing, por lo que no sería extraño verlo en 2026 compitiendo allí.
Este movimiento tiene sentido, ya que, Kondo Racing, es equipo cliente de Toyota, recién anunciado como patrocinador principal de Haas. Aunque no sería coser y cantar, los lazos con la Fórmula 1 están ahí, que es el último objetivo de Jack Doohan.
Hueco para… ¿Alex Dunne?
Con la baja de Doohan, se abre un hueco para Alex Dunne. Aunque en el contexto de las academias de jóvenes pilotos no funciona así, la baja de Jack Doohan podría favorecer la contratación del piloto irlandés.
Recordemos que Dunne salió de la academia de McLaren con la promesa de recalar en la de Red Bull. Sin embargo, Helmut Marko no actuó en conformidad con las decisiones del equipo, y acabó con Alex Dunne sin ninguna academia. Después de eso, la opción más viable de volver a tener relaciones con un equipo de Fórmula 1 es Alpine.
Jack Doohan cierra así su etapa como piloto de Alpine, que comenzó en categorías inferiores y le llevó a debutar en Fórmula 1, aunque no ha estado el tiempo que él hubiera deseado. Por otro lado, esto le da la oportunidad a Dunne de una nueva vía a la categoría reina.
