El equipo Williams ha anunciado que Luke Browning estará al volante del FW47 de Alex Albon en la primera sesión de libres del Gran Premio de Abu Dabi. De esta manera, la escudería cumplirá con las sesiones obligatorias para jóvenes pilotos.
Además, el equipo británico también ha confirmado que Browning estará en los test de postemporada para jóvenes pilotos al volante del Williams.
Luke se unió a la Academia de Pilotos de Williams Racing en abril de 2023 tras su destacada temporada 2022, en la que se aseguró el Campeonato GB3 y ganó el premio Autosport BRDC al Piloto Joven del Año 2022. Desde que se unió a la Academia ha continuado esta trayectoria ascendente, ganando el Gran Premio de Macao en 2023, consiguiendo también la pole position y la vuelta rápida, y terminando la temporada 2024 de la FIA Fórmula 3 en tercer lugar con dos victorias en carreras y un podio en Mónaco.
El británico está en plena batalla por el título en la Fórmula 2, milita en la tercera posición y acumula 1 victoria, 9 podios y 1 pole.
Alex Albon será el que deje su monoplaza, ya que Carlos Sainz ya ha cumplido en dos ocasiones prestando su FW47. No obstante, el tailandés volverá a la acción en la segunda tanda de prácticas para prepararse para la última carrera del año.
“Será un fin de semana inolvidable en Abu Dhabi luchando por el título de Fórmula 2 y volviendo a ponerme al volante del FW47, y es un desafío que voy a disfrutar”, ha comentado Luke Browning.
“El test de jóvenes pilotos me brindará una última oportunidad para ayudar al equipo a prepararse para 2026 y estoy deseando formar parte de un fin de semana de Fórmula 1 por última vez esta temporada.
