El Elche mantiene su invicto ante el Sevilla en la cuarta jornada, con André da Silva y Rafa Mir como protagonistas

El Elche visitaba el Sánchez Pizjuán para enfrentarse al Sevilla en la jornada cuatro. El Sevilla llegaba al partido tras conseguir su primera victoria. Por su parte, el equipo ilicitano llegaba invicto al partido tras conseguir su primera victoria ante el Levante.

Primera parte

El partido comenzó con el Elche poniendo el balón en juego, pero pronto quedó claro que ninguno de los dos equipos estaba del todo cómodo sobre el césped. La primera media hora estuvo marcada por los imprecisiones y fallos en ambos bandos, con pérdidas que impedían elaborar con claridad.

En el minuto 22, los franjiverdes intentaron romper la dinámica con una buena conducción de Martim Neto, que abrió para Álvaro Núñez. El lateral puso un centro peligroso al área, pero Rafa Mir no acertó a rematar en condiciones. En esa misma acción, el Sevilla reclamó penalti por un posible agarrón de Ali sobre Vargas, aunque el colegiado no señaló nada.

El desequilibrio llegó seis minutos después. En el 28, un envío largo encontró la prolongación de Vargas, que peinó el balón para dejárselo a Isaac Romero. El delantero no perdonó y, con un disparo de primeras, superó al portero del Elche para firmar el 1-0. Antes de finalizar la primera parte, Martim Neto lo intentó desde fuera del área que se marchaba rozando el palo izquierdo.

Segunda parte

La segunda mitad arrancó con un aviso inmediato del Sevilla. Vargas anotó en la primera jugada, aunque su tanto fue anulado por fuera de juego. El Elche aprovechó la respuesta para igualar en el marcador. Martim Neto encontró a André Da Silva con un pase atrás y el delantero, prácticamente a puerta vacía, firmó su primer gol con la camiseta franjiverde. Sin embargo, el Sevilla no se rindió y logró el empate definitivo en el 85. Alexis Sánchez filtró un balón al área y Peque definió con acierto para sellar el 2-2.
