La llegada de Luka Ilić ha despertado cierta nostalgia en la capital del Principado. Basta con entrar en esa red social con nombre de cine peligroso para ver cómo muchos empiezan a fantasear con aquel Oviedo de los yugoslavos. Pero para quienes no vivieron aquella época, cabe preguntarse: ¿de qué va todo esto?

Para comenzar con esta historia y ponernos en antecedentes debemos tener en cuenta cuál es la historia de Yugoslavia. Sin querer aburrir a nadie, tras la Primera Guerra Mundial se produce el colapso del Imperio Austrohúngaro, lo que permitió la unión de varios pueblos eslavos del sur en un solo estado. Este nuevo país estuvo formado por los territorios que hoy conocemos como: Eslovenia, Croacia, Bosnia y Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro y Macedonia del Norte.

Evidentemente, Luka no es el primer serbio que pisa el Tartiere, antes han pasado por la capital del paraíso ídolos históricos y hasta nombres olvidados, en este artículo repasaremos todos los que defendieron la camiseta del Real Oviedo.

El Real Oviedo hacía oficial el 27 de julio de 1973 el fichaje de Milovan Đorić. El lateral llegaba procedente del Estrella Roja de Belgrado y se convertía en el primer jugador yugoslavo en la historia del Real Oviedo. Nacido en Serbia, Milovan defendió la elástica del conjunto ovetense en 32 partidos a lo largo de dos temporadas.

Quienes lo vieron jugar lo definen como un lateral más solidario en ataque que en defensa, aunque tuvo mala fortuna con las lesiones desde su llegada. Su fichaje se produjo debido a que José Carrete debía cumplir con el servicio militar obligatorio, pero, como he dicho, las lesiones impidieron que Milovan tuviera continuidad. Finalmente, abandonó el club tras dos temporadas, con un descenso a sus espaldas.

Tras el descenso a Segunda División del Real Oviedo, desembarcó en la capital asturiana una auténtica figura del fútbol yugoslavo: tres veces campeón de liga y estrella del Estrella Roja de Belgrado. Su nombre: Ratomir Dujkovic. El fichaje fue posible gracias a Milovan Đorić, que aún era jugador del Oviedo pero actuó como secretario técnico de manera informal, y convenció a su amigo para que tomara el relevo en la portería azul tras la marcha de Alfredo Lombardía al Ensidesa.

Ratomir abandonó el Oviedo tras tres temporadas, a sus espaldas una historia muy curiosa. Después de casi 40 años todavía le siguen señalando como culpable de la derrota de 1977 ante el Sporting, no fue capaz de atrapar el cabezazo de Quini y aquel gol quedó grabado en la memoria colectiva porque el encuentro era crucial para el ascenso.

Para los fichajes de los años 90, me he visto obligado a acudir a la maravillosa obra de Nacho Azparren, El Mítico Oviedo. Del fichaje de Slaviša cuenta una historia fantástica. En septiembre de 1993, Eugenio Prieto y Celso González viajaron a Yugoslavia para cerrar la incorporación de un prometedor centrocampista. El objetivo era arriesgado: entrar en un país en guerra. Pero el talento lo valía.

Sin querer hacer spoilers —porque la realidad es que merece la pena leer el libro—, tras una tensa negociación, y ejerciendo los papeles de poli bueno y poli malo, Celso y Eugenio fueron capaces de cerrar el fichaje de Joka por 135 millones de las antiguas pesetas, es decir, unos 811.000 euros.

Slaviša Jokanović se convertiría con el tiempo en un auténtico mito azul. Enlazando con Berto y Suárez, el centrocampista de 1,91 metros y 87 kilos enamoró al Tartiere gracias a su capacidad física y resistencia. Radomir Antic le otorgó libertad de movimientos y lo rodeó de compañeros que facilitaban su labor destructiva en el mediocampo. Este rol permitió ver una de las mejores versiones del exjugador del Partizán durante su etapa en España.

En el Oviedo, Jokanović desempeñó un papel que hoy se conoce como «box to box»: ayudaba en defensa y también se incorporaba al ataque, recorriendo el campo de área a área. Una versión muy distinta a la más defensiva que mostró, por ejemplo, en el CD Tenerife, donde se enfocaba principalmente en recuperar balones y cubrir espacios.

Nadj y Bento, Bento y Nadj: ese era el centro del campo que había diseñado Fernando Vázquez para el Oviedo de los “matagigantes”. Albert había llegado a Asturias en 1998 procedente del Real Betis. Curiosamente, no fue ni mucho menos el fichaje estrella de aquella temporada: por Oviedo circulaba un tren de mercancías valorado en 450 millones de pesetas llamado Peter Møller. La otra gran apuesta había sido Fabio Pinto, un brasileño poco común, del que Eugenio Prieto llegó a decir: “Tiene la velocidad y la potencia de Ronaldo Nazario”.

Nuestro protagonista, Nadj, defendió la elástica azul hasta 2002. Cumplió en sus dos primeros años, pero fue perdiendo peso en el equipo y, en 2001, se marchó cedido al Elche. A su regreso se encontró un panorama muy distinto: un Oviedo hundido y con una deuda inasumible. El serbio, que ya no se fiaba del Consejo de Administración del club, afirmó con dureza: “Me han estado engañando tres años con promesas incumplidas”.

La peor temporada de la historia del Real Oviedo en Primera dejó, a pesar del caos, momentos históricos. Tomic, bebedor compulsivo de Coca-Cola, se enfrentaba en el minuto 93 a la última jugada de un Oviedo–Málaga que lo había tenido todo. Armándose de paciencia, se dispuso a ejecutar la falta y, sí, la anotó. El conjunto de Radomir venció aquel encuentro sobre la bocina y se colocaba octavo, empatado a puntos con el Barcelona. Las vueltas que da la vida…

Djordje había llegado a la capital asturiana en el verano del 2000, previo pago de 500 millones de pesetas al Partizán. Había sido una petición expresa de Antic y tenía, sin duda, la misión más complicada de su carrera: sustituir a Dubovsky. El serbio fue una de las pocas notas positivas de una temporada para olvidar. Con el ocho a la espalda, fue capaz de anotar seis goles y dar dos asistencias. Pasó por Segunda, y para el recuerdo quedó su gol de falta a Contreras, guardameta del equipo de la Costa del Sol.

El actual entrenador azul fue, antes que técnico, jugador del conjunto carbayón durante media temporada. Su llegada a Oviedo fue poco común: aterrizaba procedente del Atlético de Madrid —por entonces en Segunda— y tras haber disputado solo cinco partidos. En Oviedo creció, y mucho; de hecho, sus grandes actuaciones le valieron su posterior fichaje por un Mallorca de Champions.

Durante esa media temporada anotó cuatro goles y dio una asistencia. Se convirtió, sin duda, en lo poco salvable de aquella campaña negra. Se despidió con un doblete en el mítico 5-0 al Athletic Club y con el cariño de la afición azul. Veinticinco años después, ha sido el artífice del regreso del conjunto asturiano a Primera División, esta vez como entrenador.

El central con nombre de equipo mítico del calcio o de las gomas de borrar más ilustres de nuestro país desembarcó en Oviedo de la mano de Radomir. El técnico serbio buscaba refuerzos para la zaga y había pedido a Santi Denia. Al entonces ya exseleccionador sub-21 lo había dirigido en el Atlético de Madrid y quería que fuese la guinda de su proyecto. Sin embargo, en su lugar llegaron Milan Martinović e Iván Rodríguez.

Nuestro protagonista llegó procedente del Rad de Belgrado y firmó por cinco temporadas. De su paso por Oviedo se recuerda poco: 23 partidos como titular en Primera División y más sombras que luces. Seguramente estemos hablando del peor serbio de la historia del club.
