Una carta a corazón abierto al deporte que me ha visto crecer y que unos pocos se han propuesto lapidar en pro de sus intereses
Últimamente se escucha mucho eso de que «el fútbol ya no es lo que era», por desgracia, esto es una realidad irrefutable. El fútbol, como la sociedad, se polariza a pasos agigantados, lo que antes eran rivales, hoy son enemigos, lo que antes eran partidos, hoy son batallas y así con todo.
Desgraciadamente, en los últimos tiempos estamos siendo testigos de hechos estremecedores en nuestra sociedad y, como el fútbol todo lo abarca, las reacciones de los principales estamentos del deporte rey siempre están bajo la lupa. Un deporte al que se le presupone ser de caballeros no está sabiendo actuar en consecuencia. Cuando una terrible DANA azotó el sureste peninsular, en los altos fueros de nuestro fútbol solo estaban pensando en los partidos. Con la cifra de fallecidos creciendo a un ritmo vertiginoso, algunos futbolistas tuvieron que limpiarse el barro y secarse las lágrimas porque el fútbol no para. Cómo no, las justificaciones de Javier Tebas estuvieron al nivel paupérrimo de las medidas adoptadas:
«Creemos que en la terrible situación que estamos viviendo en España, el mejor mensaje no es parar, salvo en las zonas afectadas. El mejor mensaje es estar en primera línea en nuestros puestos de trabajo como todos los trabajadores del resto de sectores, dando visibilidad, generando recursos y explicando al mundo que tenemos que estar todos manos a la obra para salir adelante».
Apenas unas horas antes de que, a medio camino entre la tristeza y el enfado, me haya decidido a juntar estas líneas, ocurría un terrible atropello múltiple en los aledaños del RCDE Stadium. Lejos de posponer o aplazar el partido, la pelota se puso a correr por el verde con total normalidad, nada reseñable más allá de un tímido aviso por megafonía. Con las sirenas de las ambulancias aún sonando y con los heridos aún tumbados sobre el césped, a LaLiga se le ocurrió que lo más propicio era disfrutar de las estiradas de Joan García o ver con qué nueva genialidad nos sorprendía hoy Lamine Yamal. Pero esto, por dramático que parezca, tan solo es una más de la cadena de despropósitos que estamos siendo obligados a presenciar.
Pero esta demacración no es algo que haya comenzado ni hoy ni ayer, viene de atrás. El fútbol, como muchos otros deportes, comenzó siendo algo elitista, pero pronto pasó a ser un ejemplo de igualdad y universalidad, hasta el punto de que grupos enteros de niños eran capaces de pasarse horas disputando partidos con tan solo un objeto que lograse emular la redondez de una pelota. Como repetía a diestro y siniestro una de mis profesoras de historia durante mi etapa formativa: «La historia es cíclica, siempre se repite.» ¡Qué razón tenías, Ana! El fútbol, por desgracia para los menos pudientes, se está convirtiendo nuevamente en un deporte elitista y excluyente.
Las gradas de los grandes estadios de nuestro país, hace no tanto, se coloreaban con bocatas de tortilla y familias enteras. Hoy las cámaras de fotos han sustituido a los bocatas y los turistas a las familias. Los grandes fondos inversores, los billetes manchados de petróleo y otros tantos que poseen el dinero por castigo se han adueñado del deporte que ha dado sentido a la vida de tantos jóvenes, todo ello ante la atenta mirada de los estamentos encargados de regular estos despropósitos.
Para que haya oferta tiene que existir demanda y es que, parafraseando a Nicolás Maquiavelo:
“Los hombres son tan simples y se someten tanto a las necesidades del momento, que quien engaña encontrará siempre a quien se deje engañar.”
Esto, lejos de ser un artículo, es una carta de auxilio que trata de reivindicar aquello que muchos sentimos como nuestro, pese a que nos esté siendo arrebatado. Diego Armando Maradona, pese a ser un futbolista antológico, también fue un crápula y una persona que, en cierto modo, entregó su vida a los excesos, pero un 10 de noviembre de 2001 nos dejó la que debería ser una máxima inquebrantable en nuestro deporte:
«La pelota no se mancha»
Dejemos de mancharla, dejemos de prostituir este nuestro deporte y volvamos a disfrutar de esta sana pasión llamada fútbol.
