El Real Madrid ha comunicado que Antonio Rüdiger ha sido operado con éxito de una rotura parcial en el menisco externo de su pierna izquierda. El central alemán, que venía arrastrando molestias en sus dos rodillas debido a una artrosis prematura, tuvo que abandonar el terreno de juego en el minuto 111 de la final de la Copa del Rey y los servicios médicos del club blanco han confirmado que estará entre 6 y 8 semanas de baja.
Tras la final, Carlo Ancelotti le agradeció en rueda de prensa su entrega y descartó , equivocadamente, una posible lesión: «Hizo un partido fantástico y aguantó todo lo que pudo. Agradezco su esfuerzo. Fue fantástico. No estaba lesionado, solo estaba cansado y no podía correr más». Además, Vinícius y el alemán dejaron una imagen para la posteridad en la que el brasileño le pedía un último esfuerzo al central.
