La RFEF baraja sedes para acoger el último partido de la Copa de S.M. el Rey por la lentitud de las obras en La Cartuja, y Madrid es la favorita
Situación del estadio
El estadio de La Cartuja lleva desde 2020 siendo la sede de la final de la Copa del Rey. En ese año, se firmó un acuerdo entre la Real Federación Española de Fútbol y la Junta de Andalucía para que se jugarán las finales hasta 2023. Este acuerdo se amplió hasta 2025, pero ahora corre el riesgo de romperse.
Después de empezar la segunda fase de ampliación en noviembre del pasado año, se espera que el feudo sevillano esté en regla para albergar a más de 70.000 espectadores antes del 26 de abril, día de la final. Esta obra está programada para que el estadio luzca completo y pulcro de cara al Mundial de 2030.
La previsión es que las obras se hubieran terminado para marzo de este año, pero la RFEF no las tiene todas consigo después de ver el estado actual del recinto. Eso sí, si se hace a tiempo, tendrá un aspecto mucho más visual para el fútbol, ya que una de las modificaciones es la eliminación de la pista de atletismo.
El Atleti ante una posible final muy especial
Tras ver el resultado del sorteo del pasado miércoles, el Atlético de Madrid se tendrá que enfrentar al FC Barcelona en las semifinales. Tienen el punto a favor de tener la vuelta en casa. Si se llega a confirmar que el Metropolitano acogiera la final, la motivación sería doble.
Pero ya no es solo el jugar la final en su propio estadio y de tener la oportunidad de conquistar un título que se viene resistiendo. El Atlético de Madrid cumpliría 122 años el mismo día que se jugara el partido.
A pesar de, a priori, no tener el rival más fácil en las semifinales, el Atleti ahora suma otro motivo para no dejar escapar esta competición.
Precedentes del Atleti jugando finales de Copa en su estadio
Aunque está claro que jugar en casa es mejor que jugar en otro estadio, esto no siempre ha garantizado una victoria. El caso del Atlético de Madrid es un ejemplo claro. El club rojiblanco nunca ha ganado esta competición jugando en casa. Esto también es culpa de que la gran mayoría de finales de Copa se han jugado en el Santiago Bernabéu, sobre todo en el siglo pasado.
Sin embargo, sí que le ha tocado secarse las lágrimas en sus propias butacas. En la temporada 74-75, la final deparó un derbi madrileño en el que los colchoneros perdieron en penaltis después de que ninguno de los dos equipos lograra marcar en todo el encuentro. Esta final se jugó en el Vicente Calderón.
