En ese año, se firmó un acuerdo entre la Real Federación Española de Fútbol y la Junta de Andalucía para que se jugarán las finales hasta 2023. Este acuerdo se amplió hasta 2025, pero ahora corre el riesgo de romperse.

Después de empezar la segunda fase de ampliación en noviembre del pasado año, se espera que el feudo sevillano esté en regla para albergar a más de 70.000 espectadores antes del 26 de abril, día de la final. Esta obra está programada para que el estadio luzca completo y pulcro de cara al Mundial de 2030.

La previsión es que las obras se hubieran terminado para marzo de este año, pero la RFEF no las tiene todas consigo después de ver el estado actual del recinto. Eso sí, si se hace a tiempo, tendrá un aspecto mucho más visual para el fútbol, ya que una de las modificaciones es la eliminación de la pista de atletismo.

Tras ver el resultado del sorteo del pasado miércoles, el Atlético de Madrid se tendrá que enfrentar al FC Barcelona en las semifinales. Tienen el punto a favor de tener la vuelta en casa. Si se llega a confirmar que el Metropolitano acogiera la final, la motivación sería doble.
