El Manchester City ha hecho oficial la llegada de Christian McFarlane desde el New York City. El jugador de 18 se desempeña como lateral izquierdo y se ha convertido en el quinto fichaje de este mercado.
El Manchester City no para de realizar fichajes. Una vez oficializados los fichajes de Khusanov, Vitor Reis, Omar Marmoush y Juma Bah -se fue cedido al RC Lens sin pasar por Mánchester-, Txiki Berigistain sigue manos a la obra y ha fichado un nuevo lateral izquierdo, Christian McFarlane. El jugador llega desde el New York City, uno de los equipos que componen el City Football Group, por lo que las negociaciones han sido sencillas. «Tener esa conexión es muy importante y muestra a los jugadores jóvenes que, si tienes la mentalidad adecuada y trabajas duro, oportunidades como esta son posibles», afirmó en su presentación.
Christian McFalarne (18 años, Inglaterra) llegó a la academia del New York City cuando tenía once años. Ahora, siete años más tarde, se va a uno de los mejores equipos del continente a seguir desarrollando su potencial. El año pasado, disputó trece encuentros con el primer equipo y fue nombrado uno de los mejores 22 jóvenes menores de 24 años. Aún no se sabe si llegará para reforzar el filial o directamente pasa al primer equipo por las bajas en defensa.
Mercado ambicioso en defensa
Por el momento, el Manchester City se ha dejado 158 millones de euros este mercado de invierno y la mitad ha ido para fichar defensas. Las bajas de Nathan Aké, Ruben Dias y John Stones ha obligado a los citizens reforzar esa línea para lo que queda de temporada. Khusanov ya debutó ante el Chelsea y Vitor Reis estuvo sentado en el banquillo, por lo que Christian McFalarne podría entrar rápidamente en dinámica del primer equipo.
El siguiente objetivo de Txiki Berigistain y Pep Guardiola podría ser un mediocentro. El Manchester City no le ha encontrado un sustituto de garantías a Rodri y podría volver a sacar la chequera para fichar a un jugador de garantías.
