El equipo inglés suma ya cinco partidos sin obtener una victoria y comienza a crecer la tensión en el vestuario. En el último partido ante el Rangers, Postecoglou criticó el rendimiento de Timo Werner que fue sustituido en el descanso.

Al ser preguntado por cómo se había tomado las críticas el exjugador del Chelsea, Postecoglou añadió más leña al fuego. «No es realmente una gran preocupación.
