Novedad en la pizarra
Diego Pablo Simeone ordenó un 4-4-2 para jugar el derbi madrileño. Esta formación ya la había probado en anteriores partidos, pero en ocasiones más puntuales, no de inicio. Lo más sorprendente fue la posición de inicio de Marcos Llorente que actuó como pivote más defensivo de su línea, dejando a Gallagher optar más por el ataque y con De Paul siendo el teórico banda.
Julián Álvarez jugó tirado a banda y entrando por dentro al atacar. Consiguió hacer buenas acciones desde la banda, destacando un tiro con poco ángulo que Courtois mandó a córner. El argentino lo tuvo complicado, ya que le hacían un constante dos contra uno entre Carvajal y Valverde. Además su compañero de banda, Reinildo, no se enfoca en la táctica como el lateral ofensivo, por lo que no tuvo mucho apoyo. Aún así, salió como el jugador con más regates completados, con tres; y con más pases clave, con dos junto a Griezmann y De Paul.
En la punta de ataque se encontraban Sorloth y Antoine Griezmann. Al noruego le costó mucho desarrollar su juego por el bajo ritmo general del partido. Salva alguna bola que le llegaba de pelotazos hacia el ataque para arrancar la contra por parte del Atleti, pero no tuvo demasiado foco.
Más por un lado que por otro
Tanto colchoneros como vikingos, encontraron más juego en la banda derecha del Atlético de Madrid, e izquierda del Real Madrid. Por derecha, De Paul entraba más al centro del campo y dejaba el carril para Nahuel, con la cobertura defensiva de un Marcos Llorente que se fue al descanso con un 97% de acierto en pases y cuatro duelos ganados.
Por lado blanco, Vinicius pudo recortar en alguna ocasión hacia dentro y desequilibrar por banda,pero no fue su mejor partido en general. Por esa zona también se encontraba Jude Bellingham que dejó un gran regate para la galería.
Con la entrada de Koke, Marcos Llorente se movió al carril y desde allí llegó más desborde y más aportación peligrosa.
Llegan los goles
El club blanco estaba haciendo daño a balón parado al Atleti en las ocasiones que tenían. Por ahí precisamente llega el gol. El árbitro pita falta y amarilla para Le Normand, Modric encuentra rápido a Vinicius que tras una finta se zafa de Rodrigo De Paul y consigue colgar un centro pasado que llega hasta Eder Militao que remata absolutamente solo. El balón pegó en Marcos Llorente, lo que dificultó aún más las posibilidades de Oblak para parar el esférico.
Después de los altercados en la grada, el partido en general se calentó bastante. Mucho encaramiento y faltas innecesarias fruto de la rabia por ambos bandos.
Simeone se sacó un conejo de la chistera y realizó cambios que cambiaron el devenir del partido. Primero Correa, que entró por Gallagher; y después Rodrigo Riquelme y Javi Galán. Este último estaba debutando en liga con el club rojiblanco esta temporada.
El resultado fue el empate del Atlético de Madrid. Javi Galán pone un pase que te lo firma el mismísimo Steven Gerrard para un Correa que consigue llevar el balón al fondo de las mallas después de que el balón se fuera trabando por el camino. Marcos Llorente terminó expulsado tras revisión del VAR por una dura entrada sobre Fran García.
Así ambos equipos suman un punto en la clasificación y se lo recortan al FC Barcelona que es el gran ganador de la noche, ya que solo le han recortado un punto sus competidores tras perder contra Osasuna la noche anterior.
