El Sevilla sigue tomando decisiones en busca de conformar una plantilla competitiva que le devuelva al fútbol europeo. Es por ello que desde Nervión han decidido que Erik Lamela no prolongará su contrato con el Sevilla que acababa el 30 de junio de 2024 y tendrá que buscar nuevos retos en otro club.

El jugador ha atravesado en Nervión un camino lleno de altibajos. Fue un jugador clave para la consecución de la séptima Europa League en Budapest, marcando el gol que clasificaba al Sevilla a la final en la prórroga contra la Juventus y por anotar un tanto en la tanda de penaltis en la final contra la Roma. Por otro lado, las lesiones le han llevado por un camino de sombras que no le han permitido gozar de continuidad y que han hecho que sea más bien un jugador irregular.

El argentino aterrizó en Sevilla en verano de 2021 tras una operación ‘made in Monchi’ en la que el club traspasaba a Bryan Gil al Tottenham a cambio de los servicios del argentino y la suma de 25 millones de euros más variables. En las tres temporadas en Nervión, ha disputado 88 partidos en los que ha anotado 16 goles y ha dado 7 asistencias.
