Los primeros minutos de la segunda mitad vieron al Melilla dar dos pasos hacia delante, frustrando las constantes llegadas del Castellón. En el minuto 58, en una jugada donde los rebotes predominaban, el balón quedó suelto en la frontal del área y Óscar Gil fue quien elevó su bota para enviar el balón a la red, adelantando a los albinegros. Tras el gol, el Castellón aumentó la presión en busca del segundo tanto para ampliar su ventaja en el marcador. Por el contrario, el Melilla se mostró incómodo, incapaz de detener los embates del Castellón y sin saber cómo contrarrestarlos para salir de su propio campo.
Hubo un cambio de roles en Castalia, con el Melilla buscando generar ocasiones de gol, y poco a poco encerrando al Castellón en su área. Con el partido abierto, Moyita estrelló un balón en el poste de la portería de Salcedo. El árbitro señaló penalti tras un choque entre Nikita y el guardameta rival. Douglas fue el encargado de ejecutarlo, pero el portero Salcedo se vistió como héroe al detener la pena máxima, manteniendo con vida a su equipo en los minutos finales. Final del partido con victoria del Castellón por 1-0.
