Óscar Gil marca el gol de la victoria y acerca al Castellón a conseguir el objetivo

Primera parte

Comenzaba el encuentro en la ciudad de Castellón con el equipo local llevando la iniciativa, controlando el juego con posesiones prolongadas y despliegues por las bandas de Douglas y Raúl Sánchez. Por otro lado, el Melilla adoptaba una postura más defensiva, replegándose en su campo y buscando oportunidades de contraataque. A pesar de los centros desde los laterales del equipo local, estos no lograban encontrar un receptor en el área contraria. En el minuto 20, una conducción de Moyita atrajo la atención de los centrales rivales, permitiéndole realizar un pase entre líneas para De Miguel, quien, sin embargo, no pudo superar a Salcedo en el mano a mano dentro del área. Durante esa misma jugada, De Miguel tuvo que abandonar el campo debido a una lesión en el abductor, siendo reemplazado por Iosifov.

El Melilla respondía con un intento de disparo de Siddiki que se elevó por encima del travesaño de la portería defendida por Gonzalo. Con el paso del tiempo, el Melilla logró estabilizarse en el partido, frustrando los intentos ofensivos del Castellón, que carecía de ideas claras para generar peligro. Al llegar al descanso, el marcador permanecía sin cambios en Castalia.

Segunda parte

Los primeros minutos de la segunda mitad vieron al Melilla dar dos pasos hacia delante, frustrando las constantes llegadas del Castellón. En el minuto 58, en una jugada donde los rebotes predominaban, el balón quedó suelto en la frontal del área y Óscar Gil fue quien elevó su bota para enviar el balón a la red, adelantando a los albinegros. Tras el gol, el Castellón aumentó la presión en busca del segundo tanto para ampliar su ventaja en el marcador. Por el contrario, el Melilla se mostró incómodo, incapaz de detener los embates del Castellón y sin saber cómo contrarrestarlos para salir de su propio campo.

Hubo un cambio de roles en Castalia, con el Melilla buscando generar ocasiones de gol, y poco a poco encerrando al Castellón en su área. Con el partido abierto, Moyita estrelló un balón en el poste de la portería de Salcedo. El árbitro señaló penalti tras un choque entre Nikita y el guardameta rival. Douglas fue el encargado de ejecutarlo, pero el portero Salcedo se vistió como héroe al detener la pena máxima, manteniendo con vida a su equipo en los minutos finales. Final del partido con victoria del Castellón por 1-0.
