Mercedes espera tener buen ritmo en carrera

El Gran Premio de China fue testigo de un día de suerte dispar para el equipo Mercedes.

Ya que Hamilton consiguió el segundo puesto en el Sprint, pero tuvo dificultades en la clasificación, mientras que su compañero de equipo George Russell tuvo que lidiar con las difíciles condiciones del viento.

Hamilton, animado por su buen comienzo en el Sprint, se enfrentó a contratiempos en la clasificación debido a importantes cambios en la puesta a punto destinados a mejorar el rendimiento del coche en las curvas a baja velocidad. A pesar de sus esfuerzos, un bloqueo en la curva 14 en su última vuelta le relegó a la 18ª posición de la parrilla para la carrera principal.

«Estar sentado en primera fila para el Sprint fue una gran sensación. Entrar en la primera curva y ponerme en cabeza me ha recordado lo que tanto me gusta de este deporte. Ha sido una carrera difícil, pero conseguir el segundo puesto ha sido genial».

No iba tan mal en algunas curvas, pero me costaba en otras. Ha sido complicado frenar los neumáticos traseros en la curva 14 y ahí es donde me he quedado bloqueado en la última vuelta. De no haber sido así, habría pasado a la Q2. Mañana daré lo mejor de mí. Aún podemos divertirnos aunque salgamos desde la P18».

Russell con mas suerte en clasificación

Mientras tanto, Russell navegó a través de las impredecibles condiciones de viento, optando por una estrategia de neumáticos blandos en el Sprint. Aunque se las arregló para asegurarse un punto, la clasificación presentó sus propios desafíos, con una bandera roja que interrumpió su prometedora vuelta en la Q2 y limitó sus oportunidades en la Q3.

«Hoy no hemos tenido nuestro mejor día. Con el fuerte viento, ha sido todo un reto. Las condiciones también habían cambiado con respecto al viernes, así que tuvimos que adaptarnos. Hemos montado el neumático blando para el Sprint y la apuesta ha merecido la pena. Ha funcionado bien y hemos aprendido mucho para mañana. Al final, nos ha ido bien para sumar un punto».

«La clasificación también ha sido complicada. Mi primera vuelta en la Q2 parecía muy buena, pero la bandera roja nos obligó a abortar. Tuvimos que usar otro juego de neumáticos nuevos para pasar a la Q3. Sin eso, habríamos tenido dos juegos nuevos para la parte final de la clasificación y podría haber sido un resultado diferente, pero quién sabe. Estamos en esa lucha entre P3 y P8 y, por desgracia, nos hemos encontrado en la parte final de esa batalla en las últimas carreras en la clasificación. Las pequeñas diferencias pueden tener un gran impacto».

«Es difícil predecir lo que pasará mañana. Nos lo jugamos todo con los coches que nos rodean, así que espero que tengamos el ritmo para seguir adelante».
