Un Valencia flojo en las acciones a balón parado se complica la lucha por entrar en Europa ante un Villarreal con hambre de mirar más arriba.
El derbi de la Comunidad Valenciana se ha disputado en el ecuador de la fiesta de Las Fallas en la jornada 29 de La Liga EA Sports. Rubén Baraja, como es habitual, apostó por el 4-4-2 con la única sorpresa de la sustitución de Fran Pérez. El hijo de Rufete se quedó en lo banquillo, y en su lugar jugó de inicio el asturiano Diego López.
Primera parte táctica pero con errores
Defensivamente el Valencia se plantó en bloque alto provocando al Villarreal jugar en largo. En cambio, los groguets prefirieron seguir jugando y el Valencia les presionaba en las bandas. Esta presión de los visitantes provocaba fallos en el juego del Villarreal en su propio campo.
Ofensivamente el partido era frenético. Ambos equipos buscaban la profundidad. Por parte del Villarreal buscaba la verticalidad y la velocidad de Guedes. Por el lado blanquinegre, el Valencia recurría a la profundidad de Gayà para generar superioridad numérica en tres cuartos del campo.
En la elaboración del juego, Pepelu siempre se colocaba como tercer central para generar más jugadores en la salida del balón. Por tanto, Javi Guerra se quedaba solo atrayendo a los mediocentros «groguets» y, así generar espacio por dentro para los extremos.
Tras una pérdida del Valencia, el Villarreal aprovechó la oportunidad para provocar un penalti a escasos minutos de terminar la primera mitad. En esta jugada, Gayà tuvo que ser sustituido, el club sacará el comunicado sobre el alcance de la posible lesión.
Mamardashvili detuvo el penalti de Alex Baena y de nuevo salvó al Valencia de una situación comprometida. El portero georgiano tuvo que intervenir en varias ocasiones para conservar el empate antes del descanso.
Golpe de realidad para entrar en Europa
Rubén Baraja decidió sustituir a Sergi Canós por Peter Federico para el desarrollo de los segundos 45 minutos. Por parte del submarino amarillo, Parejo salió a sustituir al francés Francis Coquelin para aprovechar las segundas jugadas con el buen golpeo del de Coslada.
En la segunda parte, con la presencia de Parejo junto a Baena le cambia el planteamiento del partido a Baraja. Con una presión en bloque medio, los mediocentros del Valencia dudaban si salir a presionar a Parejo o no. En caso de salir a presionar al ex valencianista se generaría un espacio para que lo aproveche Baena o Guedes.
Una mala defensa en un córner llega el gol del Villarreal a manos de Jorge Cuenca. Con este punto de inflexión, el Valencia se mostró más ofensivo para buscar el empate. Por parte del Villarreal, los groguets se encerraron atrás ante el asedio de los «chés». En las jugadas del Villarreal, los locales se mostraban tranquilos para generar peligro por la ventaja en el marcador.
El técnico Vallisoletano quitó a Foulquier y Yaremchuk para meter a Fran Pérez. Baraja vuelve a formar la dupla Diego López y Hugo Duro en la delantera. Fran Pérez en la antigua posición de Diego y Jesús Vázquez posicionándose como lateral izquierdo.
Con la reaparición de André Almeida, estuvo seis meses lesionado, se vio frescura en el mediocampo del Valencia. Los del Pipo Baraja puso todo su arsenal para conseguir el punto en La Cerámica.
Pese haber intentado poner tablas en el marcador, el Valencia se marchó de Villarreal sin botín para seguir peleando por los puestos europeos.
