La neerlandesa Fem van Empel domina la prueba élite femenina del mundial de ciclocross en la ciudad checa de Tábor
La prueba élite femenina del mundial de ciclocross se planeaba más abierta que nunca a tenor de como se ha ido desarrollando la Copa del Mundo. Fem van Empel, Puck Pieterse o Lucinda Brand eran sólo algunas de las favoritas a enfundarse el maillot arco iris tras la carrera, y la carrera tardó bastante poco en decidirse.

La ciclista del Visma – Lease a Bike se destacó desde el corte de cinta aumentando vuelta a vuelta la diferencia, que llegó celebrarlo con 1:20 de ventaja sobre clasificada, Lucinda Brand, quien tuvo a su vez 34 segundos de ventaja sobre la tercera clasificada, Puck Pieterse.
Así pues, la emoción se centraba en la lucha por la segunda plaza del podio, con una lucha entre Puck Pieterse y Lucinda Brand. Lucinda se marchó poco a poco de Pieterse por lo que la carrera sería una lucha individual con las ciclistas que se subieron al podio.
Brand confirmaba la plata y Pieterse el bronce. La fiesta por parte de las neerlandesas continuó ya que Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado finalizó en cuarto lugar, demostrando que las neerlandesas en éste deporte están a otro nivel. Por su parte, las españolas Lucía González y Sofía Rodriguez acabaron en los puestos 22 y 24, a más de siete minutos, pero completando todas las vueltas sin ser dobladas.
