El Everton puso incómodo al Tottenham en la introducción del partido. Y que luego de un tiro de esquina y un despeje defensivo por parte del Tottenham, llegaba al descuento. La pelota quedaba para André Gomes y este no pensó dos veces en pegar al balón de primera. De esa manera el portugués ponía a su equipo en partido a los 82´minutos.
El mayor aliado del Everton era la pelota parada. Hacía sufrir al Tottenham en cada ejecución. De igual forma, los goats también realizaban buenas conexiones y hacían que los locales pidan el pitazo final.
El partido concluyó con un Tottenham agazapado y cansado por defender la victoria. El Everton buscó por todos lados con lo que tenía, pero el empate no pudo ser para el equipo visitante. El resultado final del partido fue de dos a uno a favor de los spurs.
