El conjunto blanquivioleta cae eliminado en un encuentro donde la sensación general fue de un quiero y no puedo por parte de ambos equipos.

El Real Valladolid llegaba al Stage Front Stadium tras cosechar una derrota ante un Levante superior a él. Los de Pezzolano aterrizaban en Barcelona sin pisar por tierras castellanas debido a la proximidad entre la fecha de ambos encuentros. Un Valladolid plagado de lesiones intentaría sacar pecho ante un RCD Espaynol que venía de perder contra el Real Oviedo.

El partido fue plano y sin muchas ideas por parte ambos equipos, que tendrían más en la cabeza sus respectivos encuentros ligueros. Con acierto, los pericos lograron llevarse el gato al agua y sacarían dos tantos de ventaja que hasta los minutos finales les mantendría en una situación cómoda en el partido.

Un Jofre inspirado, y de lo más destacado del partido, se llevaría un doblete en su casillero y que con estas dos dianas se pone con 4 goles en la actual campaña.

Debut agridulce

Otra cosa a destacar es el debut del canterano del Real Valladolid, Israel Salazar, que entraba en el encuentro en el minuto 73 sustituyendo a un Tunde sin destellos. A los 9 minutos de ingresar en el terreno de juego, Salazar lograría con un poco de suerte recortar distancias en el marcador y estrenarse como goleador en el primer equipo.

En los últimos instantes del partido, tras una rocambolesca y polémica jugada ofensiva del conjunto pucelano, en donde se reclamaba un agarrón sobre César de la Hoz dentro del área de castigo, Puado pondría el tercer gol en el casillero perico a puerta vacía tras un pase del exblanquivioleta Aguado, que ingresó en los últimos compases del partido, sentenciando así la eliminatoria.

Pero este partido no se iba a ir sin más líos, ya que se montaría una acalorada discusión en la zona de banquillos entre integrantes de los dos equipos, donde el jugador blanquivioleta Robert Kenedy saldría expulsado, y con riesgo de perderse varios partidos ligueros.

Declaraciones.

Pezzolano saldría a dar la cara a rueda de prensa y daría explicaciones de porque había tantas rotaciones en el once: «Quise manejar muy bien los minutos de los jugadores que iban a salir de cara al sábado». César de la Hoz también saldría a atender a los medios de comunicación en donde daría su versión sobre como habían percibido el encuentro: «Hemos hecho un partido serio. Es importante que el equipo genere, porque insistiendo van a acabar entrando. Tenemos que corregir errores para que no nos hagan daño tan fácil».

Dos equipos que dieron una versión muy pobre, pero que con poco el Espaynol logró llevarse la eliminatoria y mandar fuera al Real Valladolid, que suma la cifra de 17 años sin pisar cuartos de final de la competición del KO.
