Tenemos nuevo líder del campeonato del mundo, Lando Norris se ha colocado en primera posición tras recortarle 15 puntos a su compañero en el Gran Premio de México. El británico no era líder del Mundial desde el 20 de abril.
Norris parece haber renacido desde el abandono en Zandvoort, 34 puntos de desventaja había entre compañeros de equipo al final del gran premio. Sin embargo, Lando ha conseguido darle la vuelta en 5 carreras, pero no solo en cuanto a puntos, también en mentalidad. El británico ha demostrado estar más concentrado y con el objetivo puesto en el campeonato del Mundo.
En otras ocasiones, como la pasada temporada o el inicio de esta, el de McLaren se veía afectado por la presión de ser el líder del equipo o de ser el principal candidato al título. No obstante, desde que Piastri ha tomado la delantera, incluso se llegaba a decir que ya había ganado prácticamente el mundial; Norris ha bajado la cabeza, se ha quitado la presión y ha batido a su compañero en las cinco últimas citas.
En México, Norris no solo ha ganado, sino que ha arrasado. Los primeros libres dejaron dudas en Woking, con Verstappen liderando a una vuelta. Aunque ya en libres 3, el británico mostró su ritmo, y con una gran vuelta en la clasificación consiguió la pole, mientras que Verstappen era quinto y Piastri octavo ¡a 6 décimas!
Posteriormente, el domingo mantuvo la pole en uno de los circuitos más difíciles para hacerlo y, a partir de ahí, a controlar la carrera. Mientras otros batallaban por detrás, él habría hueco, llegando a meta casi medio minuto antes del siguiente clasificado.
“Vaya carrera. He podido estar concentrado, mirar hacia delante y centrándome en mi mismo, una carrera sin líos, lo que buscaba, buena salida, buena primera vuelta y desde ahí… más fácil”, dijo el piloto tras la carrera.
“Estaba relajado. He salido bien, creo que mejor de los que me rodeaban. Es mi primera victoria en México, quería ganar. Gracias a todos”, ha añadido.
Por otro lado, Norris ha hablado sobre cómo afrontará el resto del campeonato: “De fin de semana en fin de semana. Estoy contento, me centro en mí mismo, bajo la cabeza, ignoro todo, está funcionando lo que hago. Estoy contento”, dijo para finalizar Norris.
Ahora Lando vuelve a tener la presión, se ha puesto líder, y Verstappen tendrá la mirada en él en clave campeonato, mientras que por detrás sigue estando Piastri, a tan solo un punto. Veremos si cambia algo por parte del británico, o sigue con la mentalidad de las últimas carreras, que le están dando la fuerza necesaria como para colocarse como el principal candidato al título.
Pero… ¿qué pasa con Piastri?
El australiano no se está encontrando, en clasificación comentó que él no había cambiado nada, pero no le salían las cosas. En las últimas dos rondas, Óscar ha sumado 18 puntos con un rendimiento muy pobre.
Piastri suma cuatro carreras sin subir al podio: en Bakú abandonó, en Singapur fue cuarto después del lío en la salida con Norris; en Austin solo pudo ser sexto, además del abandono en el sprint; y en México mala clasificación y quinto final en la carrera.
La presión le puede estar afectando, pero ya no es el líder, aunque está tan solo un punto por detrás de Lando y si es capaz de recuperar la forma, tiene todavía muchas posibilidades de llevarse el título. Así que será interesante ver si con la pérdida del liderato en la clasificación se quita la presión de encima y vuelve a luchar por las poles y las victorias, porque a falta de cuatro grandes premios, todavía hay tres pilotos en contención por el título.
