El Coviran Granada suma su primera victoria de la pretemporada comandado por unos estelares Micah Speight, Matt Thomas y Jovan Kljajic ante un competitivo FC Cartagena CB
Coviran Granada afrontaba su segunda prueba de la pretemporada frente al Grupo Caesa Seguros FC Cartagena CB en el Palacio de los Deportes de Granada a puerta cerrada. Será la primera oportunidad de ver a Ramón Díaz en el banquillo del Palacio como entrenador del equipo rojinegro y el debut de los nuevos fichajes en un partido en casa.
Contundencia local desde el principio
Zach Hankins erró la primera bandeja del partido, pero Sebastian Thomas estrenó el marcador para el Grupo Seguros FC Cartagena con un dos más uno. Matt Thomas con un triple y Luka Bozic con otro dos más uno remontaron y pusieron 6-3 al Coviran Granada. Los rojinegros se dispararon en el marcador a golpe de triple y obligaron a Félix Alonso a pedir tiempo muerto con 14-3 en el marcador. El encuentro tuvo minutos a raíz de aquí donde las defesas primaron y bajó la anotación.
Jovan Kljajic empezó a aparecer en el partido y el Coviran llegó al +20, Babatunde Olumuyiwa se sacó un pase de genio por debajo de las piernas para que Kljajic volviera a anotar de tres, Adrià Domenech y Jonathan Rousselle intercambiaron bandejas. Robinson Idehen taponó a Rousselle, pero los locales estaban imparables y firmaron un primer cuarto muy sólido en la presión y solidificado con un tapón de Iván Aurrecoechea en defensa. Khalifa Gaye debutó con el primer equipo del Coviran Granada y en el primer minuto del cuarto apenas vimos una canasta de dos de FC Cartagena CB. Hankins con una canasta y un tapón volvió a mostrar la superioridad rojinegra (blanca hoy al vestir de este color). Amari Kelly logró un dos más uno, Bozic impuso su ley por el centro y Thomas por el exterior, obligando de nuevo a Félix Alonso a parar el encuentro con 51-25 en el electrónico del Palacio.
La diferencia de puntos aumentaba y Matt Thomas se fue hasta los 17 puntos. Domenech con cinco puntos seguidos espabiló al conjunto de la capital marítima, pero la ventaja del Coviran era más que cómoda. Micah Speight con un costa a costa hizo un nuevo dos más uno tras forzar una personal (62-32). Isaiah Rivera se estrenó en el encuentro, y Kljajic taponó en defensa, Rousselle con un dos más uno cerró el segundo cuarto, 67-40 vencía el Coviran Granada al descanso.
Mejoría de las defensas
Bozic estrenó el tercer cuarto con una bandeja, Kelly anotó para el FC Cartagena CB y el tercer asalto comenzó con un intercambio de golpes. Sebastian Thomas bajó la distancia a 27, pero Thomas, que había fallado tres tiros seguidos, con un triple se iba a 22 puntos en su haber. Aurrecoechea mejoró conforme pasaban los minutos en la zona. Alejandro Harguindey hizo el primer mate del partido, pero Aurrecoechea con otro dos más uno mantuvo el +31 para el Coviran Granada (83-52). El primer cuarto acabó con un nueva intercambio de golpes, aunque se empezaba a notar el cansancio de los equipos dadas las alturas de pretemporadas en las que estamos. 90-54.
Bajó el ritmo de puntos, pero no la intensidad
Robinson Idehen con dos tiros libres estrenó el último cuarto. Cinco puntos seguidos de Kljajic (triple desde la esquina y mate). Isaiah Rivera acertó de tres, al igual que Matt Thomas. Alberto Martín anotó una buena bandeja y Hankins con otra hizo alcanzar los 100 puntos al Coviran Granada. Aurrecoechea siguió anotando y el técnico del FC Cartagena CB volvió a solicitar tiempo muerto. Speight siguió aumentando el doble-doble en su cuenta particular con rebotes y puntos. Teemu Suokas anotó la última canasta en juego del encuentro para los visitantes. Aurrecoechea e Idehen, con unos tiros libres, puso el broche final al amistoso. Coviran Granada 112-74 Caesa Seguros FC Cartagena CB.
