El Athletic Club ha cerrado el fichaje de Jesús Areso, lateral derecho procedente del CA Osasuna, en una operación que se ha cerrado este martes 22 de julio.
El navarro, de 26 años, vuelve a Lezama tras su paso por el filial rojiblanco entre 2017 y 2021, firmando un contrato de seis temporadas que lo vinculará al club txurigorri hasta 2031. La transferencia se ha concretado por una cifra fija de 12 millones de euros, satisfaciendo las exigencias de Osasuna, que se remitía a la cláusula de rescisión del jugador.
Areso
Areso, nacido en Cascante (Navarra), ha evolucionado muy notablemente desde su llegada de la cesión en Burgos a Osasuna, consolidándose como un lateral solvente en defensa y con proyección ofensiva, siendo clave en el esquema de Jacoba Arrasate y Vicente Moreno este último año. Su rendimiento ha atraído el interés de varios clubes, incluyendo al Atlético de Madrid, pero la conexión emocional con el Athletic y la oportunidad de jugar en la Champions League bajo las órdenes de Ernesto Valverde han sido decisivos en su elección entre colchoneros y leones. Osasuna, por su parte, cierra una operación redonda, ya que recuperó a Areso gratis en 2021 tras su salida al Athletic años anteriores por la cifra de 450.000 mil euros. El club navarro, que había ofrecido hasta 3 ofertas de renovación al jugador y todas ellas fueron rechazadas, logra una significativa plusvalía con este traspaso.
El anuncio oficial se ha realizado esta misma tarde después de la pruebas médicas por lo que Areso se integrará de inmediato a la dinámica del equipo para preparar los primeros amistosos de pretemporada. Este movimiento refuerza la apuesta del Athletic, consolidando su proyecto deportivo nivel Champions con un jugador que promete ser un pilar en la banda derecha tras la retirada de Óscar De Marcos.
