Liverpool, Arsenal y City. ¿Quién se llavará la corona?

Tres equipos con un mismo objetivo: el prestigio de ganar la Premier League. Una de las competiciones más importantes del mundo se decidirá en las jornadas finales. El Liverpool, líder, parte con ventaja pero Arsenal y Manchester City aún no han dicho su última palabra.

La Premier encara su recta final. 9 jornadas y mucho por decidir tanto por arriba com por abajo. El Liverpool de Klopp ha vuelto a plantar cara y luchar por el título.. Como no, le esperaba su clásico rival en los últimos años: el Manchester City. Rivalidad que quedará para la historia de los banquillos con Guardiola y Klopp. En los últimos años un viejo rockero ha asomado la cabeza. El Arsenal de Arteta se han mantenido y también está en la terna. De aquí saldrá el campeón de la Premier League.

Un último baile buscando la guinda

Klopp dejará el Liverpool al final de la campaña cerrando un ciclo de recuperación y éxito. Después del desgaste de los últimos años, el alemán ha decidido dar un paso al lado no sin antes dejar media reconstrucción hecha. Piezas clave de su andadura como Firmino, Mané, Fabinho o, el capitán, Henderson dejaron Inglaterra para viajar hacia Oriente Medio y probar el fútbol saudí. Para ello, la dirección deportiva apostó por jugadores como MacAllister, Endo, Szoboslai, Gravenberch y los jóvenes Connor Bradley, Curtis Jones, Quansah o Elliot.

Klopp supo amueblar todas la piezas, a pesar de no tener un ‘5’ clase mundial como tenía con Fabinho. Endo rindió por encima de las expectativas, MacAllister se convirtió en un futbolista más híbrido y Trent Alexander Arnold dio un paso al centro, asemejándose a lo que siempre pareció ser. Además recuperó el nivel de jugadores que había perdido fuelle, como el propio Trent, Van Dijk, Joe Gomez o Salah. Consiguiendo formar un bloque ofensivo pero tremendamente equilibrado protegiendo su área. Ese fútbol vertical y intenso a vuelto a sonar en Anfield. El resultado es volver a estar en los puestos nobles de la Premier.

Ahora mismo son líderes con 67 puntos, 2 arriba del Arsenal y 3 del City. Pero los de Klopp cuentan con un calendario exigente: Villa, Tottenham o West Ham. Además, son claros favoritos a ganar la Europa League. El Liverpool de Klopp, aun así, está cada vez más cerca de conseguir poner la guinda al pastel. A diferencia de la Premier ganada, esta podría ser celebrada en Anfield con su gente ya que el último partido es de local ante los Wolves.

Una realidad que sigue luchando

A pesar de las dudas que había por si podían mantener el nivel, el Arsenal ha dado un paso adelante. Los de Arteta son 2º con 65 puntos, tras conseguir un vital empate en el Ettihad. Un resultado que les permite seguir arriba y que no les sorpase el City.

Desde la dirección deportiva en verano se dio un paso ambicioso. Firmaron a uno de los mejores pivotes del mundo: Declan Rice. El inglés es pieza clave en el esquema ya sea de interior o de pivote. También llegó Havertz como petición expresa del entrador español. El alemán es un futbolista diferente, de los que hay que entender. Arteta lo está haciendo, colocándolo de interior y de punta pero sacando su mejor versión. Para la portería llegó David Raya, que se asemeja más a lo que quiere el cuerpo técnico. Gran parador pero que sea un central más en salida, un seguro de manos y pies. La pena fue Timber, que llegaba para ser fundamental en la defensa pero una rotura de cruzado en la jornada 1 le obligó a perderse la temporada. Las incorporaciones se unieron al bloque ya formado con Saka, Odegaard, White o Saliba.

Un equipo joven, un proyecto ambicioso y paciente con un entrenador que sabe amueblar las piezas. Vivos en las dos competiciones. En Champions se las verán con el Bayern München. En Premier deberán enfrentarse a Chelsea, Tottenham, Villa, Manchester United y cerrará con el Everton, que puede estar jugándose la permanencia. Un calendario más que complejo.

Nunca se les puede dar por muertos

Los de Guardiola parecía que estaban desahuciados por esta lucha. Que estaban lejos. Que tenían bajas: De Bryune y Grealish. Pero no pierden desde el 6 de diciembre y ya están metiendo presión a sus rivales. El técnico catalán ha dado una vuelta a su sistema, lo ha retocado, lo ha ajustado y ya han puesto la velocidad de crucero. 3º a tan solo 3 puntos del liderato.

A pesar de que los fichajes no han dado el nivel esperado: Nunes y Kovacic han decepcionado a la parroquia mancuniana y Doku ha ido de más a menos. La vieja guardia a ha dado un paso adelante. Foden, ya sea por fuera o entre líneas, se ha convertido en uno de los mejores futbolistas del mundo. Rodri ha conseguido equilibrar al equipo y mantenerlos en la altura que pide Guardiola. Bernando Silva sigue tapando agujeros, ya sea de extremo, de interior o de pivote. Akanji y Aké han dado un paso adelante dando fiabilidad a la línea defensiva. Y, por último, Julián se ha consagrado con una realidad y ha aportado cuando Haaland no lo ha hecho.

Los ‘citizens’ siguen en la pugna. En Champions se verán, de nuevo, con el Real Madrid. Mientras, en Premier, tendrán un calendario, a priori, muy asequible. Destacan los partidos ante Wolves o Crystal Palace, con los que ya han perdido puntos. Sin embargo, llegan en la mejor forma posible. Su última derrota data del 6 de diciembre, ante el Aston Villa (rival de esta noche). Desde aquella, solo ha perdido 6 puntos con empates ante Chelsea, Arsenal y Liverpool.
