El templo pucelano celebra su 42 aniversario tras ser construido en 1982. El Estadio José Zorrilla ha vivido grandes momentos como ascensos, la consecución de un título del Real Valladolid y hasta una final de un europeo sub 21

El Real Valladolid celebra hoy el cumpleaños de su casa, su feudo cumple 42 años. El estadio José Zorrilla ha sido protagonista de grandes momentos entre ellos: albergar un mundial, partidos de la selección española, final de un europeo sub 21, ascensos y hasta la consecución del título más importante del club. 

El estadio no solo ha sido sede de partidos de fútbol, siendo destacada la final celebrada entre el VRAC y El Salvador. El feudo pucelano destaca por ser el primero en España en cumplir la normativa UEFA, la cual obligaba a poner asientos en los estadios.

El primero de los eventos a destacar es el partido inaugural celebrado el 20 de febrero de 1982 en el que el Real Valladolid venció al Athletic Club por 1-0, escribiendo Jorge Alonso con su firma el primer gol del estadio. El partido dejó un llenazo histórico en Zorrilla y se pudo ver en abierto en RTVE.

El segundo acto importante del estadio fue acoger el 13 de abril de 1982, la final de la Copa del Rey. Una final en la que vencería el Real Madrid por 2-1 ante el Sporting de Gijón. Siendo la única final a partido único a nivel de clubes celebrada en el Valladolid.

Posteriormente el estadio acogió 3 partidos del grupo D del mundial del 82, grupo en el que estaban Checoeslovaquia, Francia y Kuwait. El partido entre Francia y Kuwait dejó una imagen para la historia que fue cuando el hermano del emir de Kuwait bajó al campo para pedir al arbitro que anulase un gol de Francia. Para sorpresa de todos el arbitro finalmente anuló el gol y se volvió a disputar el encuentro.

Además el Estadio José Zorrilla acogió la vuelta de la final de la Copa de la Liga ganada en 1984 por el Real Valladolid ante el Atlético de Madrid. Dejando en Valladolid el trofeo de más valor del club, en una noche para la historia en la que tocó jugar 30 minutos extras.

El último evento futbolístico destable del «templo», aparte de los ascensos y de las visitas de la selección española, fue la celebración de la vuelta de la final del europeo sub 21 que se llevo España ante Italia en 1986.

El estadio del Real Valladolid no solo ha albergado partidos de fútbol, sino que ha dejado momentos históricos como las 2 finales de la Copa del Rey de rugby, además de grandes conciertos celebrados, aparte de los célebres suspendidos. 

En los eventos extra futbolísticos destacan las 2 finales de la Copa del Rey de rugby celebradas en el Estadio José Zorrilla en 2016 y 2017. En la primera de las finales se enfrentaron los 2 equipos vallisoletanos y contó con la presencia del Rey, aunque lo más reseñable fue el lleno histórico que supuso el récord de más personas en España en un estadio para ver un partido de rugby.

Además se han celebrado conciertos de grandes estrellas que han llenado el estadio, el último de ellos el celebrado en el 2022 por Alejandro Sanz. Por el césped de Zorrilla han pasado celebridades como Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen y Julio Iglesias. A esta lista se pudieron sumar los Rolling Stones en 2006, aunque finalmente se suspendió por una faringitis que dejó muchas dudas.

Está claro que el Estadio José Zorrilla ha dejado grandes momentos en Valladolid, pero que le urge un lavado de cara para que pueda seguir creciendo y acogiendo nuevos momentos históricos.
