El Getafe CF recibía en la jornada 16 al RCD Espanyol en un partido que iba a ser muy disputado y no iba a defraudar a nadie, dos conjuntos que estaban mirando hacia Europa y que los tres puntos eran más que vitales para sus aspiraciones. Un conjunto visitante que venía en una buena dinámica y el conjunto de José Bordalás que quería volver a encontrar la dinámica positiva.

Primera Parte

Rodaba el balón en el Coliseum con posesión para el Espanyol, y los visitantes ya empezaban a ir a por el partido sin arrugarse atrás. Seguía avanzando el encuentro y el conjunto local buscaba tener el balón y poco a poco acercarse al área rival para crear ocasiones de peligro, pero por el momento ninguno de los dos equipos llegaban con claridad para abrir el marcador. Durante este primer cuarto de partido se podía apreciar que Djené ocupaba el mediocentro y no en la zaga como se esperaba. El partido se mostraba cerrado y el Espanyol metido en su campo, por el contrario el Getafe con las líneas muy avanzadas.  La que tuvo para abrir el marcador el Espanyol tras un córner que remata mal Calero y le cae a placer a Kike García para empujarla y el esférico iba directo al palo, finalmente el colegiado señalaría fuera de juego, respiraba el conjunto local. Mostraba la primera cartulina amarilla el colegiado para Kiko Femenía tras las protestas del jugador alicantino.

El encuentro seguía muy trabado, en el 27´veía la primera cartulina amarilla para los visitantes El Hilali tras cortar la carrera de Sancris. El colegiado seguía sacando a pasear las cartulinas en esta ocasión para Domingos Duarte tras una entrada por detrás, Gil Manzano no quería que se le fuese de las manos el partido. Otra cartulina amarilla ahora para el capitán Djené, el partido se calentaba por momentos y el colegiado no pasaba ni una. 

Concluía la primera parte en Getafe, con un encuentro muy trabado y que por momentos estaba tenso, ninguno de los dos conjuntos creaban ocasiones peligrosas durante los primeros 45´para abrir el marcador, quedaba todo abierto para la segunda parte.

Segunda Parte

Comenzaba la segunda parte en el Coliseum con posesión para el Getafe, el colegiado mostraba una nueva cartulina esta vez para Sancris. Abría el marcador el Espanyol en el 52´ tras un córner lanzado por Edu Expósito y un gran desmarque de Cabrera que remataba completamente solo, no fallaba e inauguraba el marcador. Anteriormente lo había evitado David Soria con una gran parada en la jugada anterior al córner, pero en esta última poco podía hacer David Soria. José Bordalás buscaba refrescar a su equipo con tres cambios para buscar el empate. Marcaba el segunda Pere Milla pero el colegiado indicaba fuera de juego, se le complicaba el partido a los locales que no terminaba de tener las ideas claras y le estaba costando crear peligro.

Llegábamos a los últimos 20´de partido y el Getafe seguía intentándolo para conseguir el empate, pero no conseguía crear las jugadas para poder crear ese peligro, por parte del Espanyol seguía a su juego replegados atrás y buscando las salidas rápidas y ver si podía cazar alguna más para ampliar la distancia en el marcador. El Getafe no se rendía y iba con todo a por ese empate en estos últimos 10´de partido y tenía numerosas llegadas al área rival pero la zaga perica achicaba bien y despejaban todas las jugadas prolongadas por los locales, firme la defensa del Espanyol, ya lo decíamos que una de sus fortalezas era el buen orden defensivo y hoy lo están demostrando nuevamente los de Manolo González. La tuvo finalmente el Getafe en un remate desviado que casi se complica para Dmitrovic pero reaccionó bien el guardameta.

Concluía el encuentro en el sur de Madrid, con los pericos llevándose el premio final tras un partido que se paró mucho y con mínimas ocasiones para ambos conjuntos, pero fue un partido muy reñido, finalmente los tres puntos se fueron para la ciudad condal.
