El 17 rojiblanco iba ganando metros hasta que, en la frontal del área, cambió de ritmo para ganar línea de fondo, puso un balón tocado al segundo palo y allí se elevó por encima de todos Asier Hierro, que cabeceó picando el balón y batiendo a Zarco para poner tierra de por medio.
Cerca del minuto 80, David Amigo tuvo una ocasión inmejorable para acortar distancias, pero el 10 morado no pudo aprovechar la oportunidad. El delantero recogió un balón a la espalda de la defensa y, encarando a Mikel Santos dentro del área, decidió recortarle, arrastrando el balón hacia dentro, pero el esférico quedo atascado y el peligro se esfumó acompañado de un preocupante murmuro de la afición local que ve con premura la falta de gol del equipo.
El Dépor no dejo de intentarlo y hasta en el minuto 93 tuvo ocasiones para hacer gol. Mediante un córner, Jorge Casado tuvo la más clara hasta el momento, rematando un balón al segundo palo que se marchó rozando la portería rival. El equipo de Pére Martí no cesó en sus acometidas y rascó un penalti en el minuto 96, no sin antes revisarlo. Sin embargo, los aficionados locales, lejos de estar agradecidos con esta acción, y, cansados de los constantes parones para revisar las jugadas gritaban: «estamos hasta los huevos de la Primera RFEF». En cuanto a lo deportivo, David Amigo se encargó de lanzar el penalti, anotó y puso el 2-3.
Ya en el minuto 101, Jorge Casado tuvo un encontronazo con varios jugadores del Bilbao Athletic que el colegiado resolvió expulsando al defensor morado. No obstante, tuvo que volver al FVS, para corroborar su decisión, lo que retrasó más si cabe el final del partido. Finalmente, en el 104′. sonó el pitido final y ambos conjuntos se marcharon al túnel de vestuarios.
