Bajo las grandes actuaciones de ambos jugadores, el UCAM Murcia venció al Baxi Manresa 84-65 y logró la quinta victoria en la Liga Endesa
Este UCAM Murcia suma y sigue. En esta ocasión, los murcianos le asestaron un golpe importante a un rival directo en la clasificación como es el Baxi Manresa en un partido que se desarrolló de la siguiente manera:
Primera Parte
La acción en la capital murciana arrancó con un mate espectacular de Devontae Cacok a pase de David DeJulius. Ya desde el principio el UCAM Murcia tuvo problemas con las faltas ya que tanto Dylan Ennis como Cacok se fueron al banquillo al tener 2 ya en su casillero. Mientras tanto, el Baxi Manresa empezó a carburar gracias al trío formado por Steinbergs, Álex Reyes y Obasohan para así colocarse de salida con un 7-11.
Para evitar que los manresanos se fuesen por más puntos, salieron al rescate DeJulius, Cate, Radebaugh y Sant Roos para darle la vuelta a la situación y colocar el +6 para el UCAM (20-14). Fue entonces cuando el Baxi Manresa pidió tiempo muerto y a la salida de este defendió bien los tiros finales de Forrest y metió 2 canastas más para irse solo 2 abajo al final del primer cuarto (20-18).
En los primeros 5 minutos del segundo cuarto los universitarios trataron en todo momento de despegarse un poco más del marcador, pero el Baxi Manresa estuvo muy pegado a ellos. Sin embargo, en el segundo tramo del cuarto el UCAM Murcia se hizo fuerte en defensa y en ataque para irse a vestuarios 12 arriba (44-32) gracias a una acción espectacular de David DeJulius.
Segunda Parte
Si ya en la primera parte dejó acciones de las más espectaculares, David DeJulius siguió con la flechita para arriba con tres triples consecutivos que dispararon al UCAM hasta una diferencia de 16 puntos (57-41). Todo era sinónimo de alegría en el Palacio hasta que el Baxi Manresa redujo a la mitad la renta de los de Sito Alonso de cara al último cuarto gracias al buen trabajo de Olinde, Álex Reyes y del base francés Hugo Benítez (61-53).
Con David DeJulius agotado físicamente después de todo lo derrochado anteriormente, en el UCAM hacía falta alguien que diese una energía extra al equipo para sentenciar la victoria. Y ahí es cuando aparecieron en escena Sander Raieste y Emanuel Cate. El alero estonio hizo grandes esfuerzos en ataque y en defensa mientras que el pívot rumano se coronó en el último cuarto con 10 puntos y 6 rebotes que levantaron a los aficionados pimentoneros de sus asientos.
A esto hay que añadir que el Baxi Manresa se tiró 3 minutos y 35 segundos sin anotar un solo punto: Obasohan rompió la sequía con un tiro libre. La reacción de los de Diego Ocampo era ya misión imposible y el UCAM Murcia puso punto y final al triunfo con el mate de un Dylan Ennis (84-65) que no tuvo su mejor día por cargarse de faltas tan pronto.
