Campos Racing ha anunciado que Noel León será uno de sus pilotos para la temporada de Fórmula 2 de 2026. Los de Alzira completan así su alineación con Nikola Tsolov.
La escudería española tendrá una alineación completamente rookie la próxima temporada, ambos pilotos ascienden de Fórmula 3.
Noel ha disputado dos años en la categoría de bronce en la que ha conseguido 5 podios. El primer año del mexicano fue con el equipo VAR y sorprendió en su temporada como debutante. Sin embargo, el cambio a Prema este año no le ha beneficiado, la escudería italiana ha sufrido bastante y ha sido un año más duro. Aún así ha logrado dos podios.
“Es un honor dar este importante paso en mi carrera y unirme a Campos Racing para la nueva temporada de FIA Formula 2. Estoy muy agradecido por la confianza del equipo y por el apoyo de mis patrocinadores, cuyo compromiso ha hecho posible este sueño. Por su parte, Adrián Campos, jefe del equipo Campos, también ha hablado sobre el fichaje de Noel: “Estamos orgullosos de poder contar con un piloto de la valía de Noel en nuestro equipo de FIA Formula 2 para 2025. Los títulos que ha conseguido en categorías inferiores le avalan y estoy convencido de que es un piloto que tiene mucho que decir en FIA Formula 2, incluso siendo un debutante. Desde Campos Racing vamos a proporcionarle todas las herramientas para facilitar que su adaptación a la categoría sea lo más rápida y eficaz posible”.

Lo verdaderamente sorprendente de este anuncio es que Noel León no pertenece al Red Bull Júnior Team. Esto parecía prácticamente un requisito para poder optar a un asiento en Campos debido al acuerdo que tienen los de Alzira con la escudería de latas energéticas.
Uno de los motivos de la despedida de Mari Boya era precisamente ese, el no pertenecer a la academia de jóvenes pilotos de Red Bull. Sin embargo, ahora han anunciado al mexicano.
