Aston Martin ha anunciado que Jak Crawford pilotará el AMR-25 en los libres 1 del Gran Premio de México. Será la primera vez que el estadounidense se suba a un Fórmula 1 en una sesión oficial.
El piloto júnior de Aston compite actualmente en la Fórmula 2, temporada en la que va en la segunda posición y lleva 4 victorias, 8 podios y 2 poles.
Con esto, los de Silverstone cubren una de las sesiones obligatorias para rookies y ya cumplirían con la tercera de las cuatro impuestas por la FIA. En los dos anteriores casos, fue Drugovich quién se encargó de pilotar el AMR-25 de Alonso en Bahrein y Hungría.
Por otro lado, esta vez será Lance Stroll el que ceda su asiento al estadounidense.
“Estoy encantado de pilotar el AMR25 la semana que viene en México, en mi primera sesión oficial de Fórmula 1. He trabajado estrechamente con el equipo durante todo el año, así que ahora dar el siguiente paso y conseguir pasar algo de tiempo en pista en un fin de semana de gran premio es realmente emocionante. Anunciarlo en Texas, de donde soy, lo hace aún más especial”, ha comentado Jak Crawford.
Por su parte, Andy Cowell, también ha hablado sobre ello: “Es fantástico darle a Jak la oportunidad de participar en la FP1 en México. Ha mostrado una madurez y ha proporcionado un gran feedback a lo largo del año, y obviamente estas sesiones son una parte importante de cómo desarrollamos a los jóvenes”.
