Duda: «Me siento muy identificado con la filosofía del club»

Duda ha comparecido en rueda de prensa para conmemorar su renovación como entrenador del Jimbee Cartagena hasta el año 2030 

Hace seis años, Eduardo Sao Thiago Lentz, más conocido como Duda, aterrizó en el Jimbee Cartagena después de su paso por el Real Rieti italiano. Desde ese momento, el equipo cartagenero ha crecido bajo la batuta del entrenador brasileño y con él han llegado dos ligas (2024,2025) y dos Supercopas de España (2024,2025). En la tarde de ayer se hizo oficial su continuidad hasta el año 2030, es decir, que si se cumplen los pronósticos, Duda estará en la ciudad trimilenaria durante dos lustros seguidos.

En la mañana de este viernes, Duda ha hablado junto a Miguel Ángel Jiménez Bosque, presidente del Jimbee Cartagena, con el objetivo de esclarecer sus motivos por los que seguirá al frente del equipo.

Antes de que tomase la palabra el entrenador, el propio Jiménez Bosque quiso agradecer a los medios de comunicación presentes y al mismo Duda: «Muy buenos días y muchas gracias por venir. Estamos de celebración por haber conseguido renovar a nuestro entrenador y de haberlo hecho eterno. Este es un momento histórico para el club, para Cartagena y es importante darle continuidad a un proyecto en el que llevamos trabajando desde hace ya algunos años. Solamente quiero desearle los mayores éxitos a él y a su equipo técnico y lo más importante, que siga siendo parte de la casa y de esta familia, que así lo queremos».

¿En ambas renovaciones han sido fácil llegar a un acuerdo?: «En las dos ha sido muy fácil. Cuando hay cierta prudencia y sentido común todo es más fácil. Yo sé lo que valgo, pero también sé que hay que tener conciencia de lo más importante. Cuando las cosas vayan mal, yo tengo la parte principal de la culpa y cuando vayan bien, pues estamos todos contentos».

Cuando te fichó el club, ¿Sabía que fichaba a un entrenador ganador?: «Yo soy uno más que colabora para que el equipo sea ganador. Es imposible hacer eso solo y si tuviera una varita mágica, ganaría todos los años de mi carrera. He tardado 14 años en ganar una liga. Entonces, el trabajo ha de ser constante y de estar bien rodeado. Eso es fundamental».

¿Qué proyección ves del club hasta 2030?: «La idea es estar ahí arriba y si estamos ahí quiere decir que tenemos más posibilidades de ganar títulos. En mi etapa anterior en ElPozo jugamos 12 finales de liga y ganamos 4. Aquí con el Jimbee llevo 2 de dos: 2 finales, 2 victorias. Además, hemos perdido 2 finales de Copa del Rey y 2 de Supercopa que hacen un balance de 4 victorias en 6 finales. Como he dicho antes, lo más importante es estar ahí porque de esa manera es más fácil que te caigan títulos».

¿Cómo llevas eso de que vas a ser el entrenador con más partidos en la historia del Jimbee?: «Cuando llegué dije que mi idea era hacerme un fijo. Yo no consigo proyectar un trabajo que no sea para siempre. Entonces esa es la idea y lo veo como algo normal si las cosas van funcionando bien».

Si tuvieras que definir con una palabra tu relación con el Jimbee, ¿Cuál sería: «Es difícil realmente. Yo me siendo identificado con la filosofía del club, generada por Miguel Ángel, y de la empresa (Jimbee). En estos momentos existe una identificación grande y mucha confianza mutua en lo que hacemos».

¿Has tenido ofertas que te han hecho dudar de si seguir aquí o no?: «He tenido ofertas antes de ese contrato, pero ahora mismo la idea es estar por aquí. Mi familia y yo estamos muy bien, muy felices y muy contentos».
