Rafael Louzán, elegido nuevo mandatorio del fútbol español, espera para febrero la resolución de su recurso por parte del Tribunal Supremo.
Las elecciones a la presidencia de la Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF) se han saldado con la victoria de Rafael Louzán. El candidato gallego ha recibido 90 votos a favor, por los 43 sufragios para su rival, Salvador Gomar. Louzán sucederá así a Pedro Rocha, inhabilitado por el TAD durante dos años, quien a su vez relevó a Luis Rubiales. Sin embargo, el vencedor de las elecciones podría correr una suerte similar.
La Audiencia de Pontevedra, de hecho, condenó a Louzán por prevaricación en mayo de 2022. Durante su etapa como presidente de la Diputación de Pontevedra, Louzán utilizó fondos públicos para pagar dos veces la construcción de un único campo de fútbol. El expresidente del órgano provincial recurrió al Tribunal Supremo la sentencia, que conllevaba la inhabilitación para ejercer cargos públicos.
La respuesta del Supremo se espera a partir del 5 de febrero. Mientras tanto, Louzán defenderá su idoneidad para ejercer la presidencia de la RFEF, confiando en su absolución por parte del TS. Los estatutos de la RFEF, sin embargo, son tajantes en este sentido. El artículo 19.4 veta a los miembros de la RFEF que estén inhabilitados para desempeñar cargos públicos.
El presidente del CSD, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, expuso a inicios de diciembre en El Larguero sus reticencias respecto a la candidatura de Louzán. «Yo he intentado evitar decir nombres, pero sí creo que entre los requisitos está respetar los estatutos. Creo que no es bueno para la Federación». Louzán, sin embargo, ha gozado del apoyo de Alfonso Rueda, presidente de la Xunta de Galicia y su compañero en el Partido Popular. «Para Galicia no sería malo en absoluto, pero no debemos hacer política de esto», ha declarado al respecto.
