El Rayo Vallecano arrasa a un Villamuriel que aguantó durante 43 minutos
La Nueva Balastera con capacidad para 8.100 espectadores aproximadamente, acogió el duelo de Copa del Rey entre el CD Villamuriel y el Rayo Vallecano. Villamuriel un pueblo de la provincia de Palencia con alrededor de 6.500 habitantes se enfrentaba a uno de los cocos de la primera división. Primera parte
Comenzaba el conjunto de Vallecas moviendo la bola al unísono de un aplauso atronador de La Nueva Balastera. Al minuto 1 la grada se volvería loca protestando una falta sobre el conjunto palenciano. Aunque Miguel la mandaría por encima de la portería defendida por Cárdenas. La grada se volvía loca con cada buena acción defensiva del Villamuriel, que llevaba ya unas cuantas alrededor del 27´, La más clara de la primera parte hasta el momento llegaría con sorpresa para el Villamuriel. Tras un lanzamiento desde fuera del área, Pathé Ciss se equivocaría controlando dentro del área. Provocando que le callera el balón a Jaime y rematara solo ante Cárdenas. Aún así no fue el mejor remate y el guardameta blocó bien el balón.
Otra más para los de Vallecas, Nketa pondría el centro buscando a RDT y encontrándolo al segundo palo. Buen remate pero la defensa bien atenta despejaría la bola sobre la línea de la portería. El conjunto de Palencia seguiría a lo suyo, robar en defensa y jugar en largo tratando de aprovechar el repliegue de los de Vallecas. La polémica estaba servida, De Burgos Bengoechea señalaría penalti a favor del Rayo en una acción en la que parecía que el defensor había tocado balón. Sin VAR y entre pitos RDT lanzaría el penalti a lo panenka poniendo el 1-0 para el Rayo. El segundo gol del rayo llegaría tan solo 2 minutos después. Tras un centro lateral de Nketa, RDT remataría sin fortuna, provocando que el rechace fuese dentro del área y Trejo aprovechase para fusilar a Mario y ampliar distancias.
Segunda parte
Iñigo Pérez movería el banquillo en el descanso dando entrada a Guardiola y a De Las Sias. El Rayo seguiría ampliando distancias, el segundo en la cuenta particular de RDT tras un gran envío al área de Pathé Ciss. El conjunto rojiblanco seguiría apretando. En esta ocasión sería Iván Balliu el que dispararía desde fuera del área obligando a Mario a emplearse a fondo para detener el esférico. Pablo López movería el banquillo metiendo al terreno de juego a Chembri y Mateo.
Guardiola metería el cuarto gol aprovechando un balón más a la espalda de la defensa del Villamuriel. Con los cambios de Iñigo Pérez y el 0 a 4 en el marcador, el conjunto madrileño pisaría el freno y bajaría una marcha. El entrenador del Villamuriel, Pablo López, querría darle la oportunidad de jugar hasta al portero suplente dejándole cumplir un sueño. Quedaría una última sorpresa en el Rayo, y es que el hijo de la leyenda Samuel Eto´, Etienne Eto´ debutaría con el primer equipo.
Todavía quedaba una clara ocasión para el conjunto local. Con una falta botada directamente hacia portería desde el lateral del área Cárdenas la sacó cuando la afición ya gritaba el gol. En la jugada siguiente Etienne Eto´ ajustaría el balón al lateral de la portería metiendo el 5 a un Villamuriel agotado. Con el pitido final el sueño de un pueblo de 6500 habitantes fue destrozado por un Rayo implacable. A pesar de ello, tanto aficionados como jugadores se llevarían a casa un recuerdo inolvidable.
