France Football ha cambiado los criterios de votación para el Balón de Oro, un hecho que coloca a Rodrigo Hernández como el candidato principal para alzar el trofeo. Todo apunta a que finalmente, Vinícius Júnior no percibirá dicho galardón. El brasileño y su entorno no viajará a París en el día de hoy, al igual que Florentino, Ancelotti, Carvajal, Bellingham y otros partícipes del Real Madrid.
El Real Madrid boicoteará la gala, ya que consideran una falta de respeto a la institución lo que ha sucedido en las últimas horas. El club blanco estima que, a pesar de que Rodri cumpla mejor que Vinícius Júnior los nuevos requisitos impuestos por France Football, no los cumple por encima de Daniel Carvajal. El lateral español alzó Supercopa de España, Supercopa de Europa, La Liga, Champions League y Eurocopa, algo que para France Football, no es suficiente.
