La última carrera de la temporada en tierras asiáticas se disputará en el Marina Bay, un circuito donde adelantar es muy difícil.

Singapur llega en un momento oportuno para unos y desafortunado para otros. Por una parte está Red Bull, que llega siendo superado por McLaren por 20 puntos en el Mundial de Constructores a un circuito donde su coche parece que, por sus características, no va a poder hacer vueltas brillantes en clasificación. Por otra parte están McLaren y Ferrari. Con la victoria de Piastri y la remontada de Norris hasta la cuarta posición, los papayas demostraron (otra vez) tener el mejor ritmo. Los de Maranello ya hicieron la Pole en Singapur el año pasado y han demostrado ser fuertes en clasificación. Es por eso que este fin de semana se auguran nuevos cambios en las tablas de los Mundiales.

Se trata de un circuito urbano construido en las calles de Marina Bay, la zona costera de la ciudad-estado de Singapur. Este tipo de trazado se caracteriza por sus estrechas curvas rodeadas de muros y, como pasó en el GP anterior, cualquier error puede salir muy caro.

Es el segundo circuito con más curvas del calendario, con 23 en total (14 a la izquierda y 9 a la derecha). Teniendo en cuenta su longitud, también es la segunda pista con más giros por quilómetro, solo superado por Mónaco. A todo esto se le ha de sumar la climatología inestable, característica del sudeste asiático, y que la carrera será nocturna El recorrido total del circuito es de de 308, 706 kilómetros, con 61 vueltas de 5,063km cada una. El récord de vuelta rápida lo tiene Kevin Magnussen en 2019 con 1:41.905.

Llegamos al Gran Premio de Singapur, donde Pirelli ha confirmado sus compuestos de neumáticos: C3 (duro), C4 (medio) y C5 (blando).

Es un circuito con alta carga aerodinámica y una gran evolución de pista, tanto en clasificación como en carrera. La frenada y tracción también son importantes ene este circuito, por lo que se espera más desgaste en las ruedas traseras. Pirelli fija las presiones en 22.0 psi para las ruedas delanteras y 20.0 psi para las traseras.

Pese a que se inauguró en 2008, solamente 4 pilotos de la parrilla actual se han subido a lo alto del podio en Marina Bay. El que más veces lo ha hecho es Lewis Hamilton, con un total de 4 victorias. Le sigue Fernando Alonso, con 2. Sergio Pérez y Carlos Sainz han ganado una vez en Singapur. Al ser un circuito donde adelantar es complicado, la mayoría de estas victorias se han producido con los pilotos saliendo en primera posición. Destaca la victoria de Alonso en 2008, no solo por su remontada (salió en 15º en parrilla) sino por el denominado ‘Crashgate’. Supuestamente, el compañero del asturiano en Renault por aquel entonces, Nelson Piquet, se estrelló a propósito para provocar un safety car.
