Este año la Champions League se jugará en formato liga, es decir, cada uno de los 36 equipos disputará 8 partidos contra 8 equipos diferentes, cuatro de ellos como local y cuatro como visitante.

Los primeros 8 clasificados pasarán directamente a octavos de final, mientras que los equipos que se clasifiquen entre la 9 y la 24 posición jugarán eliminatorias de ida y vuelta para decidir a los otros ochos clasificados.

La primera jornada se disputará entre el 17 y 19 de septiembre, mientras que la última jornada se jugará el 29 de enero.
