Luis de la Fuente: “España e Italia son selecciones hechas para competir”

El seleccionador español, Luis de la Fuente, ha comparecido esta tarde ante los medios en la previa al partido frente a Italia que se disputará este jueves 20 de junio a las 21:00 horas en el estadio Arena Aufschalke. “La roja” se juega el liderato del Grupo B frente a los de Spalletti para evitar a los “cocos” del resto de grupos de la Eurocopa

Luis de la Fuente comenzó mostrando su aprobación a todos los jugadores que participaron en el partido frente a Croacia: “estoy muy contento con el rendimiento de los jugadores que participaron el otro día y estoy también muy contento con el entrenamiento de los jugadores que no han participado pero pueden hacerlo en cualquier momento”.

Además, también ha destacado que “la roja” lo único que piensa es en ganar, sin tener en cuenta factores externos: “pienso en el partido a partido, no sabemos si habrá más partidos después por eso salimos a ganar siempre y no nos vale un empate”. Por otro lado, también quiso ensalzar a su rival: “Italia es un equipo en formación, como nosotros, con gente joven. Me gusta mucho lo competitivos que son”.

Luis de la Fuente explicó el cambio que ha vivido la selección española en su sistema de juego en los últimos años: “nosotros intentamos ser superiores a los rivales interpretando cada situación de juego y creo que tenemos jugadores para poder jugar de diferente manera, esta es nuestra esencia”. Luis de la Fuente quiso tocar un tema que esta en auge en este momento, el valorar a la selección española a día de hoy: “reivindico dar valor a nuestros jugadores, por ejemplo Fabián es una estrella top mundial. De todas maneras es algo que siempre nos pasa a los españoles que siempre vemos mejor lo de fuera”.

Luis de la Fuente también fue preguntado por la rivalidad histórica que tiene con Italia: “es un clásico de todo tipo de competición y creo que es un partido que podría ser una final. Son selecciones con grandes jugadores que parecen que están creadas para competir a este nivel”.
