Baskonia sueña con el Play-In

Baskonia se ha impuesto por 88-73 a Milán en la jornada 29 de Euroliga y firma la 16º victoria en un nuevo festival anotador por parte de los locales que ponen tres victorias de margen con los puestos de fuera de Play-In. Howard con 26 puntos y Moneke con 19 puntos, los más destacados una vez más por los hombres de Ivanovic que sueñan a lo grande

Igualdad en el marcador

Baskonia buscaba saltar a la pista del Buesa Arena con la vista puesta en sumar una nueva victoria que le acercaría a los puestos de Play-In de la clasificación en Euroliga. Por su parte Milán, conscientes de tener un margen de derrota escaso, quería acercarse a Baskonia y con ello además imponer el average conseguido hace unos meses atrás en tierras italianas. Ivanovic, al igual que en el partido del domingo frente al Barcelona, alienaba de inicio en el base Miller-McIntyre con Howard, las alas para Marinkovic y el capitán Sedekerskis y, por dentro, el estonio Kostar. Mesina por su parte, alienaba de inicio a sus mejores hombres con Napier y Hall desde la posición central, con Mirotic y el danés Shields y por dentro la amenaza del capitán italiano Melli.

La igualdad ha reinado especialmente en el primer cuarto, donde la puntuación no ha sido muy alta y los errores en el tiro en ambos lados se han visto notorios. Además de ello, la defensa de Baskonia ha permitido, hasta en 8 ocasiones, el tiro exterior de Milán que con gran acierto en esta disciplina ha conseguido anotar 3 de ellos con Mirotic como gran referencia italiana. Baskonia por su parte, ha conseguido encontrar desde la línea de dos una buena fuente de anotación con un 8/11 en lanzamientos. Tras los primeros diez puntos, el marcador mostraba una ligera ventaja local con el 19-18.

El segundo cuarto ha sido clave en el devenir del choque, un inicio frenético de Baskonia ha conseguido en los primeros minutos una ventaja superior a los 10 puntos con Howard y Moneke especialmente inspirados y con una férrea defensa provocando los errores en el tiro de hombres importantes de Milán como Melli o Napier. Baskonia seguía manteniendo la distancia de más de diez puntos en el marcador ante la pequeña reacción de los visitantes con los puntos obtenidos en este cuarto desde la línea de dos puntos con un 5/9. Los primeros minutos han estado dominados por un mayor empuje de Milán que tras anotar varias canastas seguidas unidas a una mejoría en defensa, ha obligado al técnico local a pedir tiempo muerto ante la diferencia de tan solo 7 puntos de su equipo. En estos minutos, el acierto de Baskonia había remitido en comparación de los primeros minutos de juego pero Milán no era capaz de rebajar la distancia en menos de 5 puntos. En el tramo final del tercer cuarto ha emergido la figura de Moneke, que tras un dos más uno y un triple anotado, ha vuelto a poner la ventaja de Baskonia por encima de los 10 puntos con el 63-53. En estos minutos, el fallo desde la línea de triple de Milán con un 2/8 ha sido clave en la posible remontada en un cuarto donde los hombres italianos tan solo han anotado 21 puntos pero concediendo la misma cifra. La dupla formada entre Howard y Moneke ha puesto más tierra de por medio en el electrónico hasta los 14 puntos de diferencia al término del tercer cuarto con el 69-55 final.

El último cuarto ha comenzado con un dominio de juego y anotador muy efectivo de Baskonia, que aumentaba la renta en 19 puntos ante la poca defensa de los jugadores de Messina que no eran capaces de frenar a Howard por fuera y a Moneke por dentro. Tras llegar a una renta de 22 puntos, finalmente en los últimos minutos de partido la anotación triplista de Milán ha rebajado la renta en el 88-73 final. Con esta victoria y, con 5 partidos aún por jugar Baskonia pone 3 victorias de margen con el Play-In. Milán se queda con 12 victorias y lejos de las primeras 10 plazas de Euroliga.
