Partido reñido entre el Atlético de Madrid y el Rayo Vallecano que se decidió con un gol de Memphis en el descuento

Atlético de Madrid y Rayo Vallecano recuperaban el partido aplazado debido a que los colchoneros se encontraban disputando la Supercopa de España cuando debía jugarse el encuentro. Los locales llegaban a la fecha en una dinámica bastante positiva, mientras que los visitantes arrastran unos resultados un poco irregulares.

Rotaciones y debut

Numerosas rotaciones introdujo el Cholo en el once inicial, destacando la titularidad de Reinildo, Correa y Memphis en los lugares de los lesionados Giménez y Morata y de Antoine Griezmann, que tuvo descanso. También fue suplente Koke y en su lugar debutó el joven Vermeeren.

Primera parte igualada

Ambos equipos salieron con la idea de mantener la posesión, aunque ninguno de los dos se hizo con el control absoluto del esférico. Las pocas ocasiones que hubo en los primeros minutos se dieron en ambas áreas y no conllevaban demasiado peligro. El Atleti comenzó a jugar con defensa de 4, Reinildo ocupó la posición de lateral y Riquelme adelantó su posición al mediocampo. 

Correa tuvo en el 28′ la más clara del partido hasta ese momento, un muy buen pase al hueco de Depay dejo solo ante el portero a Correa que tras amagar y recortar al arquero del Rayo disparó a portería, el disparo lo sacó Lejeune bajo palos. Tras una revisión en el VAR para ver si el balón había traspasado por completo la línea se determinó que era gol, sin embargo, la acción quedó anulada debido a un fuera de juego del propio Correa en el inicio de la jugada.

Cinco minutos después de la ocasión de Correa, un centro de Riquelme tras una falta fue rematado por Reinildo, que adelantó al Atleti con un buen cabezazo. De esta manera el mozambiqueño se estrena como goleador con la camiseta rojiblanca.

En el minuto 43 una buena combinación del Rayo por la banda izquierda culminó con un latigazo de Álvaro García desde fuera del área que empató el encuentro en la primera ocasión que tuvieron los visitantes. El gol del Rayo Vallecano reflejó la situación de la primera parte, un partido muy reñido e igualado en el que no hay un dominador claro, ni con el balón ni en el marcador.

A raíz del gol, los visitantes se echaron un poco más adelante y comenzaron a presionar con intensidad la salida del balón del Atlético.

Segunda parte y primeros cambios

En el descanso Simeone sustituyó al debutante Vermeeren, que realizó un partido poco destacable, por Nahuel Molina. Con la entrada del argentino, Llorente ocupó la posición de Vermeeren mientras que el campeón del mundo se posicionó en el carril derecho, además el equipo volvió a la defensa de 5.

Los colchoneros dieron un paso adelante y buscaron con insistencia el área rival, pese a ello no lo veía claro el Cholo y retiraba en el 57′ a Riquelme, Correa y Llorente para dar entrada a Lino, Griezmann y De Paul, tres titulares que hoy habían comenzado en el banquillo. Los cambios del Cholo se conectaron rápido y Griezmann tuvo una ocasión que mandó al lateral de la red de Dimitrievski.

También Francisco introdujo modificaciones: se marcharon Ratiu y Kike Pérez para que ingresasen al terreno de juego Balliu y el nuevo fichaje rayista, Crespo.

Antes del minuto 70 entró el capitán, Koke, en lugar de Saúl. Posteriormente se marcharon en el Rayo Isi y Álvaro e ingresaron De Frutos y Óscar Trejo.

El equipo visitante empezó a defender y esperar una oportunidad de contragolpe, mientras que al Atlético le entraron las prisas y comenzaron a asediar a la portería de Dimitrievski.

Otra vez Memphis

Tras una ocasión clarísima del Rayo, una gran jugada de Barrios dejó a Depay ante el portero macedonio del equipo vallecano. El neerlandés no falló, aunque el tanto no subió al marcador por fuera de juego. Después de eso se vivió un momento muy especial en el Metropolitano con la entrada de Falcao por Camello. 

En el descuento, una jugada colectiva del Atlético acabó con un pase de Griezmann al área que remata Memphis anticipándose a los defensas y aprovechando la poca contundencia del portero. Con ese gol el equipo rojiblanco se adelantaría a falta de unos pocos minutos.

Con el pitido final el Atlético de Madrid sumó 3 puntos vitales antes del derbi en el Bernabéu y se coloca a 8 puntos del liderato y se asienta en los puestos de UEFA Champions League.
