Quique Sánchez Flores ha sido el elegido por la directiva sevillista tras la destitución de Diego Alonso el pasado sábado
Tal y como apuntaban algunos medios a lo largo del fin de semana, el nuevo técnico sevillista estaba al caer. Adelantado por ‘Relevo’, justo después del encuentro frente al Getafe FC. El elegido por parte de la dirección deportiva era Quique Sánchez Flores. Víctor Orta declaró en la rueda de prensa post-partido que la intención por parte del club hispalense era anunciar a su nuevo entrenador cuanto antes. Por lo que desde la planta noble del Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán se trabajaba para conseguir el relevo de Diego Alonso lo más pronto posible.
El currículum de Quique Sánchez Flores es algo que juega a favor de los sevillistas. Tras su experiencia en los banquillos tanto en el extranjero como en España, el Getafe apostó por él hace varias temporadas. Con un equipo en reconstrucción tuvo la difícil tarea de sacar de la zona de descenso a los azulones. Lo consiguió, además en dos ocasiones, de una manera sufrida aunque con un juego muy directo y vertical. La difícil tarea para el contrastado técnico será la de levantar a un equipo hundido. Aunque, aún tiene que disputar dos competiciones como LALIGA y la Copa del Rey.
En su última etapa como entrenador utilizó una defensa de 5. Algo, que no se veía en Sevilla hace muchos años. Veremos si con jugadores de la talla de Gudelj o Sergio Ramos es capaz de seguir con la misma idea de juego. Sin embargo, Quique se adaptará a una nueva manera de afrontar los partido. «El Sevilla FC y Quique Sánchez Flores han alcanzado un acuerdo para que el técnico se convierta en el nuevo entrenador del primer equipo, firmando hasta 2025. Enrique Sánchez Flores (Madrid, 02/02/1965), recala en el conjunto de Nervión tras la destitución de Diego Alonso el pasado sábado.
Sánchez Flores comenzó su trayectoria como entrenador dirigiendo en 2009 al equipo juvenil del Real Madrid, club en el que previamente había sido jugador, antes de retirarse en el Real Zaragoza y de una etapa inicial, más amplia, en el Valencia CF, con el que pudo ser internacional absoluto hasta en 15 ocasiones. Sus primeras experiencias en los banquillos en la élite fueron en Getafe, Valencia y Benfica, logrando en el club portugués su primer título con la consecución de la Copa de la Liga en 2009. En su paso posterior por el Atlético de Madrid durante dos temporadas, el hoy nuevo entrenador sevillista logró levantar una UEFA Europa League y una Supercopa de Europa, llegando también en el mismo año 2010 a una final de Copa del Rey que perdió ante el que hoy es su equipo.
Posteriormente marchó a los Emiratos Árabes Unidos para dirigir primero, durante dos temporadas, al Al-Ahli, y luego al Al-Ain. Con el primero de estos dos clubes logró una Copa de la Liga, una Copa Presidente de los Emiratos Árabes Unidos y con los segundos, también logra una Copa Presidente de los Emiratos Árabes Unidos. En la siguiente temporada – la 2014/15-, Quique vuelve al Getafe por un breve periodo y luego arranca un nuevo proyecto en el Watford inglés durante una temporada completa, para luego regresar a y dirigir al RCD Espanyol durante algo más de una temporada. En la 2019/20 prueba suerte en la Superliga China con el Shanghai Shenhua, y sus dos últimas experiencias son dos regresos, primero al Watford para dirigir 12 encuentros en la 2019/20. Más tarde, en su última experiencia hasta ahora, vuelve al Coliseum para dirigir al equipo azulón un total de 66 partidos entre la 2021/22 y la 2022/23.
