La Fórmula 1 y Mercedes defienden la integridad de los Wolff y rechazan las acusaciones como “erróneas”
La Federación Internacional de Automovilismo (FIA) ha lanzado una investigación sobre Toto Wolff, jefe del equipo Mercedes en la Fórmula 1, y su esposa Susie Wolff, directora general de la F1 Academy. Esta acción se produce después de las quejas de otros directores de equipos de F1, quienes sospechan de un posible conflicto de intereses.
El foco de la sospecha se centra en un comentario realizado por Toto Wolff durante una reunión con otros jefes de equipo de la F1. El comentario contenía información que sólo podría haber obtenido de la FOM, lo que ha llevado a cuestionar si Toto Wolff tiene acceso a información confidencial y si Susie Wolff está al tanto de las discusiones que podrían ser útiles para la FOM.
Un informe de BusinessF1 sugiere que Toto Wolff pudo haber tenido acceso a documentos confidenciales relacionados con el exceso del límite de gasto de Red Bull en la temporada 2021, lo que resultó en sanciones para el equipo austriaco.
En respuesta a estas especulaciones, la FIA ha declarado que está al tanto de las especulaciones de los medios sobre la posibilidad de que un miembro del personal de la FOM haya compartido información confidencial con un director de equipo de F1 y está investigando el asunto.

Por su parte, la Fórmula 1 ha respondido firmemente a la FIA, insistiendo en que las acusaciones son “erróneas” y pidiendo que no se hagan señalamientos infundados.
En un comunicado, la F1 afirma: “Tomamos nota de la declaración pública hecha por la FIA esta tarde, que no fue compartida con nosotros de antemano”. “Tenemos plena confianza en que las acusaciones son erróneas y contamos con procesos y procedimientos sólidos que garantizan la segregación de información y responsabilidades en caso de cualquier posible conflicto de intereses”.
“Estamos seguros de que ningún miembro de nuestro equipo ha hecho ninguna divulgación no autorizada a un director de equipo y advertiríamos a cualquiera que no haga acusaciones imprudentes y serias sin fundamento”, finalizaba el comunicado.

Mercedes también ha emitido un comunicado en el que coincide con la postura de la Fórmula 1: “Tomamos nota de la declaración genérica de la FIA de esta tarde, que responde a las acusaciones sin fundamento de un único medio de comunicación, y al briefing ‘off-record’ vinculado al director del equipo Mercedes-AMG F1”, señalaban.
“El equipo no ha recibido ninguna comunicación del Departamento de Cumplimiento de la FIA sobre este tema y fue muy sorprendente enterarse de la investigación a través de los medios de comunicación”. “Rechazamos totalmente la acusación en la declaración y la cobertura mediática asociada, que incide erróneamente en la integridad y el cumplimiento de nuestro director de equipo”.
“Invitamos a una correspondencia completa, rápida y transparente del Departamento de Cumplimiento de la FIA en relación a esta investigación y su contenido”, exigía el equipo británico en el comunicado expedido esta tarde.
